Got in and had a look around. Didn’t book a ticket yet but noticed you can’t book anything after end of June for a season pass holder. You can however book normal tickets after June. That is a little annoying as I need to book for July!!
I think Gary mentioned before that he has managed to get his 2020 season pass converted to a 2021 pass?
@GaryH, you are certainly going to be in the minority there as most people are just having extensions to 2020 passes until end of June. You might need to speak to Towers about what they plan to do about booking as you could have an issue.
Why does the bring a friend thing so 'no packages found' is that an error or something. Surely all the dates haven't booked out already
No its alright now I asked Alton towers on twitter and they confirmed it will be returning this year but just hasn't been releasedfrom what I’ve read on Twitter they are not doing being a friend this year.
I don't think the smiler is doing too bad personally. A bit of a clean needed in certain parts but its looking alrightGood to see.
If only they could carry out the 'essential repairs' on the Rapids, Duel, Smiler etc.
Not a chance. Is it possible that rides coasters be fully loaded when the park reopens ? Given that it never *really* made sense in the first place (you occupy the same air as the people in front of you within seconds anyway) it could be a really positive move . Even Disney have started loading attractions (most recently both Mine Trains) at 100% , and they are abundantly cautious compared to Merlin
On a different topic, work is happening to the chapel and the Tudor Lodge.
I’d have said the same of Disney yet here we are. If they can justify it alongside a policy where masks are only removed when actively eating , no exceptions ,I don’t see what would be stopping Merlin from doing the same ?Not a chance.
I think the difference here is Disney can actually enforce rules better then merlin.I’d have said the same of Disney yet here we are. They aren't really there to bump up attendance. More to make the park deal with the attendance they want to get. The more rides they have, the more people they can "fit" into the park. Last year there was a lot of days where the park reached peak capacity, if they can get more people in then it means more money, also more rides hopefully means shorter waits as people are spread out across more rides.
Gangsta Granny will be the marketing to get people into the park, the fairground rides will help make sure they have a great day once they are there.
My point isn’t about enforcement , it’s the fact that Disney have much stricter policies overall than Merlin , and yet they understand the reasoning for spacing people out on rows of a coaster (more than 1m apart with masks on) doesn’t make sense and only damages capacity and gives an illusion of additional safety, rather than any real benefitsI think the difference here is Disney can actually enforce rules better then merlin.
That is certainly one thing that will come from opening these rides. More rides does mean a higher overall capacity as the crowds will be spread out more.I get what you mean as in since they are at limited capacity at the minute, they'll want to add more rides in order to limit queues, but by doing this aren't they expanding their capacity meaning more guests can visit in one day? Apologies if I have misunderstood!
