haha, already people thinking that they're bringing back the corkscrew and the black hole

This is some excellent turd-polishing, I genuinely dig it.

I’m intrigued to know what The Retrosquad is or was. If it’s something from the 80s, will we see new characters, or maybe new merchandise?

It’s a clever marketing strategy for the position they’re in and I commend them for that to be honest - at least it will make people aware that weren’t aware that there are 4 temp rides

It's clever in the same way a scamster is clever at getting your money. They have added 4 tatty fairground rides due to their own incompetence of selling off all their flat rides over the years. Let's not forget that point.

I'm making the point because I've had the same view when it was first announced but there genuinely is no point going round in circles and trying to spin it as a negative anymore - I fully admit I had the same view but it's four fairground rides vs four empty spaces at the end of the day. I agree it's incompetent that it's gotten to this stage, but looking at it in a positive light from now on I genuinely believe is the best outlook because it's finally SOMETHING.

I think its referring to the rides as it mentions them in the video but it could also be referring to other things such as retro characters, there's speculation about Sir Algenon with the steampunk theming on the events stage, but who knows really.Do we think this is some sort of promotion for the new fair rides, or is it something else?
Sorry for the double post also, realised I could've multi quoted there.

I love the animation they released! I have a feeling the 4 rides are a much better planned out venture than we first anticipated, rather than this video is being some last minute marketing of a bodge job hiring of some fun fair rides. Last year was the 40th anniversary of the corkscrew and the blade arriving in 1980 and with the year we had there was no opportunity for a real celebration, so I think this year they're making the most of it. Plus, both of those rides are featured in the beginning of the animation! Perhaps, instead of themeing the temporary rides, there will be some (minor) themeing around the park in an 80s style? Might seem silly but worth thinking about since they've made this effort of advertising the new rides.
Point is, this is a sign of even more exciting stuff to come

I think they'll do a good job with the rides. I'm expecting them to be somewhat themed, hopefully to the areas that they're situated in. It'd be great to see some old characters such as Henry Hound make a return alongside the normal entertainers that patrol Towers Street. I'm actually feeling very excited about this season, it seems like the park are trying some different ways to attract guests and I hope it makes them realise that small things such as shows and more seasonal events can really improve people's experience and make them want to visit more often.

Does anyone know if they're just gonna be called like "Waltzers" and "Jumper Jumper" etc or if they'll have themed names? I assume they'll be added to the app queue times at some point so we'll find out before Monday.

Stranger Things made the 80's cool again. This style of advertising has been popping up fairly regularly in recent years.
As mentioned above - it's one hell of a turd polishing.

Let's also not forget that the 'they' that let it get in this state were publicly owned Merlin, the 'they' that are fixing it it is the new private owners. Most of the people in the middle delivering the aims of the company remain the same, but the aims are not. Give them a chance!

Give them a chance for what? I'm not going to get drawn in my some cool retro theme to cover up bringing in cheap tat. Because that's essentially what it is.
I regularly pay the park compliments when it's justified. The coaster line up for example remains one of the strongest in Europe.

Your point was it was 'their' incompetence that led to these rides coming. It's a quick fix for a problem years in the making, with all the will in the world they can't undo their predecessors neglect instantly. That they've identified this and done something so swiftly to rectify it has got to be a good sign? A good decision for right now and bodes well for the future.
