Well, It's designed to top up guests in the park once all-day guests are leaving. If it was any earlier, then the park would be over saturated.

Just coming in say how well all big 7 coasters were running today. Even Rita and Nemesis which I find the most uncomfortable usually were running at their absolute best!

I hope they don't see this as a reason not to build a permanent flat in this area. Not only are the Waltzers the weaker of the 4, but the flow of the area is completely wrong.Yeah I didn't even see the Waltzer when I was in the area last week as it's so far back from the main path.![]()
As built, Festival Park was the area that just kept on giving. You walked in from Fountain Square, the food outlets to your left, the Corkscrew to your right and flats against the back drop of trees as far as the eye could see.
Then some idiot thought they'd built an Intamin launch track in front of it all. Later, a further barrier of a wooden underpass was added.
This area was designed back when the funfair was still in use, the Towers ruins were the main draw, Towers Street didn't exist and the car park was at this end of the park. The main entrance to Dark Forest would make much more sense being from the Swiss cottage end of the area, starting between the archways and the kiosk. The flow would work much better in general. All that would be needed is some signage.

You'll love it there. The owners are so friendly, and they let you keep your car there for the days you are staying so you can walk to the park.Good point! On that note I’ve booked that place for our visit on 29th/30th June. It’s our first time stopping there.

Heads up for anyone heading to Alton Towers next week from the A50.
Not sure I follow the logic of doing this work over half term - when the roads will likely be busier in this area because of increased visitors to the park, but there you go. Also starting them at 9.30am is BANG in the middle of when the majority of cars will be heading to the park.

Seems they have had a rethink and these roadworks will now not take place next week. They will be done overnight instead.

Not helped by Galactica, Oblivion and Wicker Man being down
Galactica is actually as reliable as a chocolate tea potNot helped by Galactica, Oblivion and Wicker Man being down
Why does it feel busier than pre covidNot even worth going on days like today if you actually want to go on rides. Unless you've got RAP or Fastrack of course.

A significant chunk of visitors could have been on abroad/UK holidays pre-covid possibly at this point. I'm not sure though just speculating.
There’s some nasty looking queue times out there today... Oblivion are down too.

I presume that Oblivion was closed this morning for the filming of Josie Gibson riding it live on ITV This morning. Camera crew with on ride camera set up and dismantling
They surely would just take that shuttle off after filming??I presume that Oblivion was closed this morning for the filming of Josie Gibson riding it live on ITV This morning. Camera crew with on ride camera set up and dismantling

That probably could take just as long as removing the camera. They had TV cameras set up around the ride giving both on ride and off ride views. Also there were no waiting on the bake run, so probably also not as many shuttles on the ride and would need to add more shuttles. I don't know the full answers here, just speculating.
