2022: General Discussion
Yeah and we also need a skyride to connect Rita and Thirteen's entrance! We need to add a sky ride to get towers street to CBeebies land
I think they are close enough not to need a skyride. The electricity bill for the skyride is probably already through the roof. Never mind the maintenance costs.

With the new thorpe ride set to open in 2024 ish, surely we'll be due a towers coaster by that year too. Could we have the 2 biggest uk parks opening rides on the same year? I wonder what towers will go with to compete tbh
Alton Towers do not need any more roller coasters. They need a high capacity dark ride, or large indoor area with multiple small rides, heck why not both.
If they must have another coaster it would be preferable to have one indoors, not only because it differs from their current line up, but it will also be able to be run consistently over their winter season.
Including sorting out the monorail presumably? The transport ride that actually needs sorting out rather than a tiny and pointless extension to skyride. If Alton have CAPEX from Merlin to splash, the last 2 things they should spend it on is either extending the Skyride or building a new coaster. I can think of dozens of things the park needs before either.

Please don't give them ideas. The entrance does not need to be moved. What would that solve? I can't imagine not walking underneath the Corkscrew, walking down Towers Street and taking on that amazing view of the towers and lake etc.I'd rather they sell the monorail or leave it SBNO and just build a new entrance near FV. Spend the money on something decent.

They’re very close together?
Are you related to Jackie Weaver?

Hello all;
How is everyone feeling about the recent omicron conundrum leading into 2022?
Will there still be temperature checks? Will covid pass with x3 jab be required? Or will it be suffice to have a negative lateral flow upon entry to the resort?
I have a trip planned for May so any opinions are appreciated.
Thankyou.

My guess would be possibly masks indoors still, seating (picnic benches) in front of the stage to try and avoid crowds gathering. Maybe covid pass will be needed.
At the moment covid pass is needed for indoor venues over 500, outdoor over 4000 standing in one place like festivals or 10,000 or more indoors or outdoors. So it is possible covid pass will be needed as the park often gets more than 10,000 guests but I'm not sure a theme park fits into it as people are more spread out compared to a stadium, but they aren't doing it right now for the Christmas event (which will be less than 10k attendees).
Temperatiure checks were pointless anyway really.
Don't forget for the NHS pass currently needs two vaccines OR a negative lateral flow. Therefore assuming the government don't change that it would be sufficent to have negative lateral flow and report it.

I think it is way too early to have any idea of what the situation is going to be in May. I think things will be considerably better than they appear to be at this moment in time, as come May everyone will either have been boosted or exposed to Omicron.
If any restrictions are required when the park reopen then the only place it will be enforced is at entry to the park. Within the park it will just be like back in earlier this year... Nothing enforced and no one cared. After a couple of hours guests had even given up on face coverings in station building and every time I took my backpack off in a queue I almost hit the person behind with it if I didn't check.

By May, which is almost half a year away, we'll probably be on Plan RB.72 Tier 7a with a barage of confusing restrictions to fight the new Upsilon variant that is believed to have originated from a Paraguayan Orange grove. I'll keep my ear to the door of Number 10 and see if I can overhear their plans for theme parks in 5 months time but I think the party music might be too loud to be able to hear anything.
