In terms of announcements, it is possible that we might have something before February Half Term. With it being open to day guests, there would be a good chance to advertise down Towers Street as they usually do when there's a new ride coming (subjective I know). I also know not loads of people will probably be going, but it might catch the attention of a few.

Quite possibly yeah. Maybe before. Very soon I would say.

I am confused though. What is subjective about them advertising new rides in Towers Street? They either advertise them or they don't. There is nothing subjective about that. Unless I am getting confused.

I meant subjective as in some people are classing this as a new ride, and some aren’t. I am, but I’ve seen others aren’t on here because of the ride system being the same, or some theming staying.

I am personally classifying this as a new ride, but I can also understand why some wouldn't.

Tussauds definitely classed Duel as a new ride even when the majority of the original Props and set pieces from The Haunted House were reused, and that's what I'm betting what is happening now once again. History repeats itself once more.

With The Haunted Houses facade, I've never managed to find out what type of architecture they were going for because it looks like a combination of Medievil and Tudor era style. Does anyone know what style the facade is based on?

It's classified as gothic architecture, which is mostly associated with the medieval period but lasted until the 17th Century, then had a massive revival in the 19th. If I could choose a date, it would be in the Tudor era.

Thanks. That makes a lot of sense now. It's a wonderful looking facade and I'm really glad they didn't go for the original intended typical Victorian look. I don't know any other ghost train that has a 19th century Tudor-like gothic facade, but I guess that add to The Haunted Houses uniqueness. I really hope they don't tamper with the facade too much, though some nice TLC without visually changing its appearance would be greatly appreciated. It looked great when it first opened with the Wood structures still looking fresh, and the added detail on the turret!

It's in the style of a Victorian cottage similar to other real cottages around the Alton grounds, not really Gothic but some gothic styling.
That's a reasonable explanation. If you look at the Gardeners Cottage in the garden, the pointed bits of the roof are actually very similar and there are 3 of them on both. The Gardeners Cottage doesn't have the addition of the chateau style turret though.

I'd argue back and say that a good section of the theming inside is already world class, but has been lacking the upkeep it needed, such as maintenance on the mechanisms, and the bad relights and cheap repaints, which doesn't make it look all that great. There are definitely scenes that need to be replaced, ones like the skeleton corridor and the bats scene, and the horrendous lab finale, which are all pretty much funfair quality. Scenes like, The Garden, the Giants Lair, The Poltergaist room, and the Grand Hall still have a lot of potential to rival other Ghost Trains of today like The Haunted Mansion if they receive proper treatment and TLC.

I love the ivy on the facade honestly, but the actual Houses materials seem very work out and it makes areas of it look a bit bland. If I still looked like as it was in 92, all fresh and still had the detail on the turret, adding the overgrown ivy, it would honestly be one of the best facades of any dark ride IMO.

They advertised the Duel is over. Todays website update says the return of Duel.

Let’s see where the next few weeks go. Duel as we know is gone (damn shame wrecking a good ride). Duel 2 could be near.

It says “the return of Duel” because that is what we currently know it as. If they’re not ready to announce it’s new name yet then that’s why. I’m pretty confident this is what is meant by the wording, not that Duel 2 is coming. Just speculating, but with everyone that’s been said, I think it’s pretty damn clear it’s not going to be a Duel 2.0. I’m not really sure what else is needed to totally convince people.

Link? I looked on the website and it just read the average 'Property Repossessed' info.

It's a fantastic looking facade. They'd be idiots to change it and they obviously won't be.

If they nail the new story and new scenery then we have the makings of a world class dark ride again.
When everything was working it was a world class dark ride. Same with Toy Land Tours, why do they let these cherished rides get into such a state of disrepair then have to remove them for something crap?

Because most theme park companies want to be like Disney and Universal, and when there rides aren't like a Disney Attraction, but still very good quality, they'll intend to replace it with what Disney and Universal were doing, hence the blasters were added in 2003, probably because the great reviews from MIB alien Attack a few years prior.

Could be, although early 00's "Laser Quest" was probably at the height of it's popularity and Zombies, combine the two and it's a sure thing....

keep hearing how good Toyland Tours was.
I know I was hardly the age target at the time, but the younger kids I was with didn't really rate it at the time.
Not in the same league as the original Haunted House, by a very long way.
