The key thing I hope for this season is that ride availability is better.
There are a lot of things you could put on your Alton Towers wish list, but I’d argue that available rides is a key fundamental of their business, and I think it’s fair to say that ride availability was less than stellar at numerous points in 2024. Admittedly, this was partially caused by the weather on the day I visited, but I was in the park on a day in March 2024 where it absolutely imploded from a ride availability standpoint and very little was open for much of the day, and I gather that there were other very similar days during the 2024 season.
I know bad days happen, I know bad weather happens, and I do sympathise with them to an extent in this regard, but it does not sound like my day in March was an isolated freak occurrence last year. Even on days where the weather wasn’t a factor like it was for me, the park appeared to exhibit quite ropey ride availability on a number of occasions in 2024.
The number of “bad days” in terms of ride availability last season was definitely higher than you’d hope for, so my key hope for 2025 is simply that the park gets a handle on this issue. I don’t think the situation we had last season is sustainable long term; poor availability leaves a very bad taste in people’s mouths, and they won’t come back if they think ride availability is a lottery.
