[2024] Nemesis Reborn: Construction and Speculation

I must say, I personally think that black track on Nemesis would look a bit strange. It might be something I’d get used to, but I hope that they keep the more earthy/white aesthetic they have going on at the moment, personally.

I have a question for you all; if the earthy aesthetic of the original is retained, would you prefer for the new track to be painted in the 2016 paint job or the 1994 paint job?

Personally, I’m going to be controversial and say that I’d like the 2016 paint job to return. I always thought the rust effect applied looked really cool, and I do think that it added a certain visual edge that the original 1994 paint job lacked.

The 2016 paint was just because it would have costed too much to do the more detailed original paint job in a short timescale, nearly impossible while the track was in situ.

If you thought the quick job looked cool youd have loved how it looked originally (before it got covered by dirt or faded), where it was basically the same but more detailed and more of it.

The supports especially looked really great

For me I'd pick the 1994 paint job. Don't get me wrong, both paint jobs are really good, but the original one just looked really grim and organic which looked wicked I think.

I think I prefer the 1994 paint job, but both paint jobs are superior to what is being suggested for 2024.

The 2016 paint job was never finished. If you look at the first drop they didn't add that rust stuff. I would have preferred that personally had the blood effect looked more pinky red than brown. On both the original and the repaint I never liked the rust looking effects on either. It looks good when new as it's quite clearly an effect but over time it looks like real rust. At least it matches the rest of the park though.

Speaking of matching the rest of the park, they may as well just go with black track and slap that generic purple paint they like to use all over the station (with the monster theming removed exposing the corrugated steel underneath of course) and then theme it to some sort of haunted, gloomy or dark Hollow, woodland or forest with some plastic Ivy from Home Bargains. With a dark secret sinister organisation back story of course. Oh and build higher fences around the queue line with viewing windows and plenty of Danger of Death signs.

Remove the monster? How dare you

Black and Red's a bit too Inferno for me.
I don't think there's enough evidence to say the recolour is happening yet. Lots of rides have black track. Even rides with coloured track can have black track in the station or indoor areas. Without knowing that tracks for Nemesis it could be going anywhere.

But I wouldn't rule out using the old track as themeing. Sure actual track is heavier than some painted pipes but it's not unreasonably heavy. It also looks far better and will last far longer.

A lot of professional themeing uses steel in its core (Just look at Wickerman and Chessingtons new ride). And in this case they have the steel, it's already perfectly shaped, and ready to be bolted in place. If the station gets rebuilt as part of this refurbishment it'd be a missed opportunity to not replace the fake track with the real thing.

And it's not like this hasn't already happened to old B&M track:

Would like the upper half of the loop to stand alongside the Corkscrew inversions at the entrance or have it moved, if they kept with the pre retcon story of the track being organic, to have some of them coming out of the ground, along with some other elements, around FV to give more of the impression of how much Nemesis rules the land and maybe show how much more powerful it is than before.

1994 paint job. . .100%

The 2016 repaint didn't make sense and lost some of the detail. . The track is supposed to be part of an organic being so why would it have rust on it?. . . And they just painted the supports black. . On the 1994 paint the supports were painted to look weathered.

There's really no intentional "retcon", it's probably just somebody in a department somewhere or an external agency googling the Nemesis story and misinterpreting it, as you probably would with the over analysed nonsense you read online.
Surely if they weren't sure, any Marketing executive with any sense would ask John Wardley what the story is rather than googling it? :tearsofjoy:

Or, you know, they could just look at the design of the station and see that the legs/tentacles of the monster look just like the track...

Some interesting discussions have been had since I last logged on.
I'm seeing some comments how Merlin have retconned the story of Nemesis and that the track is supposed to be a structure restraining the beast.
I'll be honest, I always thought that was the case, since I started visiting in 2003 and started to do my research, this is what I read once all that time ago.
I've since then, in the last few weeks also read on here that the track is Nemesis' method of consuming sustenance and the trains are used to collect food.

So if they are now going to have the story being that the track is restraint, and with the prominence of the Phalanx in the marketing, it would make sense if the track was black and fit in with a more military operation theme?
I personally, based on the Virtual Towers render posted here, think black track would look very nice and give Nemesis a more modern, intimidating appearance, and a fresh look on the lore of Nemesis.
I also wouldn't mind if it was still white, but with the original paint job. The problem is with that, it isn't easily maintained, once built, i.e. the 2016 re-paint being all white with rust added, just didn't look right. I believe I have read that the original paint effects were applied by hand by staff once the track arrived on site in 1993?

Why does nemesis need to look modern again? I don't know really anyone who ever complained about its look, in fact, I know a lot of people who love the look of it. Modern doesn't mean better all the time, and I think this is one of those cases cosmetic wise.

It doesn't need to. It just would do. There is a purism culture among some theme park goers that any change is automatically a bad one. At the end of the day, how much impact would black track have on the overall ride experience?
But it's all conjecture at this point, anyway.

Well with the current marketing team determined to retcon the storyline in that now the track is what is pinning down the monster rather than being part of it, black/grey track would make more sense as it would look more like the "chains" restraining the monster.
The supports are pinning down the monster that is the track. That’s always been the case. I’ve not seen anything that contradicts that?

Straight from the horses mouth. This is the tale I’ve always been told. Never heard that the track is supposed to be part of the monster before I came to this thread.
