Can't wait to see them repaint it back to its old Look after the negative feedback from Thusies! Lemme just grab my popcorn and get cosy!

(That's a joke lads cause they mostly don't listen to criticism from Enthusiasts, or anyone...)

I hate to say it, but the opinions of enthusiasts are pretty meaningless in the grand scheme of things. If enthusiasts react negatively to the track being painted black, I doubt Alton Towers will really care. Repainting is very expensive (I believe Nemesis’ 2016 paint job cost £120,000?), so I highly doubt that Towers would repaint an entire roller coaster to please a vast minority of guests.

I’ve even seen a fair bit of positivity about black track within enthusiast circles, in fact!

I’m reserving judgement on it until the ride is assembled myself. While the idea of not having Nemesis in its earthy colour does sound strange, black could actually look quite stylish, in my view, and ultimately, the colour of the track is very inconsequential if everything else is brilliant, which I have every faith it will be!
EDIT: Sorry @Trooper Looper, I only just saw your clarification that that was a joke…

If it is indeed Nemesis, I imagine the reasoning behind it has at least in part been influenced by the fact that Nemesis in particular does suffer from the Towers ‘grime’ quite considerably. The recent paint job was only 5-6 years old and already looked a state.

I don’t particularly like yet another boring black/grey track but I’m sure we will all get over it and it will hold up a bit better.

I don’t know what I think about a black track for Nemesis. I’m going to reserve judgement until it’s up and running again. Dare I say it I think it could actually look quite good.

I just can’t wait to ride it again, it’s going to be a long year or so.

This is what can frustrate me about enthusiasts sometimes.

It's literally just track colour - we've already been told that the ride experience will remain exactly the same... so why do people care about the track colour so much? Granted, it might not be as pretty to look at for us enthusiasts, but for the vast majority of the general public I can guarantee you they couldn't care less what colour the track is... they just want to ride the damn ride.

Times change. This is exactly like people grasping onto false hope that the Duel re-theme is going to be a re-hash of the original Haunted House. Just leave it to the professionals who know what they're doing and stop judging an unfinished project so much. Wait until it's built, or in Nemesis' case re-assembled, and judge then.

People say ✨trust the process✨ for a reason, you know.

Reading this thread right now.

There’s a thing called ✨primer✨

I think people need to calm down until the track is physically at Alton Towers, we’re over a year away from Nemesis reopening… Thematic painting may not happen until it is in place/on site.

If it’s still black track come winter 2023/24 then I will take that as confirmation of a change in visuals. I’m all for speculation but it not confirmatory at this stage, the track pieces are still in the manufacturing stage.

But seeing as the black track appears to have had gloss applied, as well as the fact that the ends and joins are still grey (a typical primer colour), surely that would suggest that the black coat isn’t a primer coat?

They could well apply some thematic touches to it (such as blood splatters) but I’d now be surprised if the main track colour of the new Nemesis wasn’t black.
Let's not assume that everything we read/see on the internet is true.
What is it that makes you sceptical, out of interest?

For my money, we’ve been able to ascertain that the track belongs to Nemesis by extrapolating from a B&M track coding system that the company is known to have used ever since its conception, and even if that wasn’t concrete enough evidence, bolt boxes seen at Alton Towers also have the “IC-DR” label just as this track does. From my perspective, it all adds up.

Kind of a shame that it’s potentially going to be black but I suppose it’s a good opportunity to freshen up the look and make it actually look new.

Wonder if this means the trains will change colour as well?

I wonder if black track could be an intentional choice to make the ride fit whatever new vision Merlin has for Nemesis?

Seeing as John Burton is in charge of the project, and John Wardley et al have promised “a few surprises”, I’d be surprised if Merlin Magic Making didn’t try to leave their own mark on Nemesis to some extent. Perhaps Merlin have a new story idea that makes black track more fitting than the white/earthy track of old?

Well if we get brand new trains then yes, that is likely.

IF it ends up being black it will mean 4 of the 6 major steel coasters at the park are the same colour - not overly imaginative.

Probably done so they don’t have to bother cleaning it. (Not that they did anyway).

I'm still hoping it's an undercoat and that they're gonna give it its final layer of paint on site over here... we were told the ride wouldn't change visually, its either that or we've been lied to :/
