[2024] Nemesis Reborn: Construction and Speculation

I have too, except my first time at towers was when Covid was rife in the UK, but it was quite nice seeing the top of the lifthill. Had no idea its almost never open at the top, so lucky I got some photos!I have only ever used the whole queue once, in opening year.
It does give some amazing views though.

Back when it first opened the queueline used to go over the back towards the Galactica lift side. There was a lot more to it than the extra bit you did during Covid. If I recall, didn't it run along the ridge at the top of the pit and back into the woods.
I was a mere 10 years old in 1994, so my memory may be wrong.
Same as the Air queue, that used to be huge. The only coaster of that time that didn't seem to have a massive queue was Oblivion, but that may be deceiving because of the layout.

From an also 9/10 year Old's memory. The Oblivion queue line used to split at various points up the hill, into three lines which went into their respective loading bay at the station. Remnants of it are used now for Fastrack. I could also be completely misremembering, of course. If I recall, didn't it run along the ridge at the top of the pit and back into the woods.

It went through many changes over the years.
The slow shuffle forward was great in the early years, a real human processing machine.

The image at the below link is a fairly good explanation of the different queue lines over the years.
With the blue being the original, and the purple being the one most of us are used too.

Interestingly the plans for the refurbishment show all but the loop that has since been replaced by Sub-Terra's queue:
It's possible they could bring most of it back, but some parts have been little more than falling apart fences for years. I hadn't even realised it passed under the lift hill. But it would be great to have this path accessible if only for the views.

I wouldn't expect any changes (except maybe making it step free?) to the layout, especially if the bit after the final turnback is inside Galactica's ride area
Galactica’s lift hill is very close but not directly above where the old queue is. *edit* ignore that, just realised you were on about the section before the break run and not the stall turn.
It would be nice to see this view.

My only concern on this refurbishment of the queue lines is that it’s not 94 anymore and if they replace the height of the queue fences with 6 foot metal cages I will riot.

If you queued all that original queue you'd be there about 5 hours

Yes, but look at it! Probably did at least a 2-3 hour queue in 94-95 up there. I remember looking at the graffiti and being bored and passing by the loop towards the side where Galactica is now.If you queued all that original queue you'd be there about 5 hours![]()

As in my original point I don't forsee them needing the old queue. The current one is perfectly long enough, even if the ride is heavily marketed next year. There's enough other major rides at the park now that we won't see 2 hour plus lines (on a regular bases at least)
However wouldn't it be great if that queue was either:
- Reopened as a scenic walkway between the entrance of Nemesis and Galactica.
- Used for a new ride in the coming years. Say for example like a vintage car ride system, but given a slightly more mature theme in which you are conducting research on the Nemesis site. Something the younger kids can do while their older siblings ride the big rides, and a great breather ride for anyone else. The plaza under Air that's never served a lot of purpose could be the entrance. Would make for a great filler ride and adds something neither the area or the park has.

I agree that the extended queue line won’t be necessary for the majority of the season. Nemesis is too throughput-y!
Not that I want long queues for Nemesis, but the extended queue line up above the vertical loop offered spectacular views. Only did it once during a late opening on one of the end of year events. Seeing it all lit up in the dark from that angle was special. I did take pictures! But using my Sony Ericsson, so many of those photos have been lost to time… or data corruption…
Up there is also where they kept that old rusty logo for a time, felt like we’d stumbled upon a bit of history. I think it’s the one they now keep next to that big nemesis gun…mining machine…thing….

Working with teenagers at the time, I spent many work hours with one or two moody teens in all of the queueline, for about the next five years.Yes, but look at it! Had many "They f*** you up, your mum and dad" conversations in that queueline, they used to get quoted in care review meetings..."Rob span my head round in many ways on Nemesis" was a favourite.

I have to say that the veins complement the iconic first inversion perfectly!
