2025: General Discussion

It seems to me the budget is zero for the advert. I don’t think there is anything new in the advert at all, it’s all old footage mixed together. It’s even got the old CBeebies logo on it.

Maybe they’ll insert a bit of Toxicator into the end once it’s opened and they have some proper footage of it in action.

I’d go a step further and say this advert is probably just temporary and a dedicated Toxicator ad might come in a week or two. Throw this together for 20p and hold off on spending the money on marketing until you have something marketable open.

Or I could be completely wrong because this is Merlin we’re talking about.

Weren’t marketing included in the recent redundancies? Very weird to be using footage from the TV adverts 12 years ago…

Also, we always seem to get a ‘pre’ main season TV advert that is more Resort focused, and not aimed at big new attraction, but more of a reminder to parents that the park is open and ready for bookings. With an updated TV advert switched out when the new attraction is open.

Can I remind everyone that we have a dedicated topic for blow by blow "how many trains are running on xxx ride" type posts. This thread should be for more serious discussion please. Thanks!

This would have been outsourced to an agency, regardless. Alton Towers doesn't have an in house video production team.

(I'm not including the social media peeps and their iPhones.)

New 2025 advert on Alton Towers YouTube account. Surprised not to see any mention of Toxicator.

They have been doing this kind of adverts for a while, I thought an interesting thing was that the smiler was quite relevant in this one, don't recall seeing much in terms of advertisement with the smiler.

Not a glamorous lighting effect.
I wanted to see if my though about the smiler was correct, or if it was just bad memory, I had to go back to the 2021 advert for a very small snippit, but I also found this scene

I’ve no real issue with them rehashing previous adverts.
Ultimately the majority of the footage of rides would remain the same.

Also makes the advert instantly recognisable in style.

Clearly Toxicator will be getting its own advert and that’ll be where the money is spent.

Sometimes we need to all calm down a bit.

And besides, adverts aren’t cheap. If the budget came from Alton’s budget and a new advert meant we couldn’t see some of the improvements that appear to have been made this close season, i am all for rehashing adverts. Especially when the park is in dire need of improvement.

I agree Alton towers does some fantastic adverts why not utilize as guests won’t remember and if anything I was thinking this advert showcased more rides than usual and reminded us of some previous very imaginative marketing. Seeing the crazy smiler man would be captivating for new audiences and made me smile!

Until I saw the Facebook comments i actually thought it was a great advert! It’s a shame there is much negativity surrounding everything towers do as it must put certain people coming or low expectations on arrival.

It’s a lazy advert but the people moaning about it don’t need advertising to as they know the park is open next weekend, and the people who might be targeted by the advert won’t have a clue that it’s a rehash of multiple old adverts anyway.

Apps being given a refresh again, everything’s on except for CRR and Hex. Skyride is even on, so looks like it’ll be ready for Saturday. Unsure if the two missed off will be open
