2025: General Discussion

It helps the discussion if you reference where you have seen something?

Anywho, just saw this on Towers Times feed.

Feels like a positive step, unless it’s for a replacement of Big Fun Show Time in CBeebiees of course.

Always thought the goal striker location would be a place shout for a stage.

Always thought Fountain Square was the perfect location for a stage next to the Driving School arch entrance.

There was one Scarefest where a stage was set up their but can't remember which one

I would assume this is for the Mutiny Bay Courtyard for the Scarefest shows that are already confirmed.

They have had stages in there for Oktoberfest, Christmas and Feb half term previously with no need for planning, unless they have had their knuckles rapped for that of course.

Would have thought it would be too late by now to secure planning for an event less than a month away.

Maybe they're planning something for the lawns that can stay up for Fireworks too?

The Merlin Entertainments careers website has a few Entertainment positions, throughout the UK RTPs, currently listed.

Alton Towers are specifically looking for a vocal performer, in addition to CBeebies performers.

It will be good to have the entertainment back but am intrigued what RWS will do

I find it interesting the application doesn't mention temporary, the previous application mentioned "installation of a seasonal temporary stage" could this be a permanent structure?
if so where could it go, the lawn, courtyard, next to spinball?

The details may be foggy, but could this be for the renewal of planning permission for the stage structure on the front lawns, I thought that permission for that stage expired for around 2026?

If it was a permanent(ish) structure for Fountain Square then that would surprise me as that corner of the park doesn’t really have that much of a pull factor at the moment outside of Dark Forest. However it would work complimenting an eventual CCL overhaul if they decided to go all out back there, especially if we see a Project Horizon revival.

Just had a look and you are right the permission for the stage on the lawns expires Feb 2026. However, last time around the park asked for a 5 year extension and various experts were not happy about this due to the impact of the stage on the lawns and listed views etc. As a compromise they only got an 18 month extension.

From that report, interesting bit in bold:
..However being mindful of the Agents e-mail of the 5th March 2024 which confirms that the applicant is in the process of preparing a long term plan to recover from Covid which will consider alternative longer term solutions for the staging, rather than reject the application, a further 18 months from the expiry of the existing permission be given to 15th February 2026. The applicant is now agreeable to this.

Perhaps this new application is for that longer term solution being referenced?

I wonder if next year we’ll sss more events and more entertainment with the new company in full swing.

As Lego and Chessie have seen entertainment return this summer, but we’ve had nothing at Towers.

I think this could be elsewhere other than the lawns, but not really sure where!

This is what I hope for, this year after the redundancies and then the new contract in place by Easter (or whenever) I suspect there wasn't enough time to organise everything for all parks. So I see this season as a sort of "fallow" season, and next year things hopefully will be back better than ever!

A similar thing happened with Aramark; the first year or so there wasn't much change (other than price rises!) then as time has gone on, things have changed (can't really say improved though).
