2025: General Discussion

I agree that the front seat...for the view...cannot be beaten for thrills and near misses.
We can all also test customer service in any way we so wish...one of the few joys of living in a capitalist society.
Vote with your wallet or feet my friend, I completely understand where you are coming from.

Bizarrely, and strictly off topic, the very best customer service I have had has been at the Beach.

Last one was the hot water bottles being fetched out onto a cold balcony without request.

The problem is, though, that if one person’s request is accommodated, it sets a precedent, and everyone will want to request their “best” seat. If too many people’s requests are accommodated, it undermines the whole principle of assigned seating.

Yes, it might seem like the park are being unnecessarily pedantic to you as an individual if they deny your request, but if you look at the bigger picture, you don’t want everyone to request their favourite seat because there’s a whole train of seats to fill. It might start as “just one little request to sit on the front”, but if everyone does it for the front/back, the other rows on the train will never be filled.

This is why, perhaps controversially, I don’t personally disagree with parks being quite strict on assigned seating. Or at very least, I understand why they are and do not consider it a bad thing.

When I finally got on the smiler, at the third attempt, I told the nice lady on the gate it was third time lucky, and she held me back on the single rider to make sure I got a front seat...because I deserved it.

Straight round the single rider queue and she repeated the favour.

Add me to the Front row crew!

Nemmy has always been best at the front in my eyes purely because the view is incredible with all the near misses and tunnels. I will grant you that the back row is more intense but Nemesis doesn't suffer from a lack of Intensity wherever you sit so I much prefer the front. I actually think the head bashing can be worse the further back you sit on the train too although to be fair I don't usually get any head bashing on any row on Nemmy. Must be my size.

Fair shout , back for most intense and front for overall experience

If we’re having the front vs back debate, I must admit that I’m a front row advocate myself! I had my first front row ride on Nemesis post-retrack back in July, and it was exquisite; the sense of speed is just wonderful in the front!

Interestingly, though, I would not say the same about Nemesis Inferno. On that ride, I’d advocate for back over front.

Fair points made here however...

I have never once stated that I thought this request was reasonable or that it is reasonable to accommodate it. So why is that being assumed?
if they act rubbish, we will visit once next year, on the 85% discounted work tickets I can get, with a packed lunch on my back. Then the money that would have gone to Merlin, will go to visits to the European parks. Let the games begin...

You said if they deny your request they would be acting “rubbish”.

So, they should say yes to everyone. Your queue time will then increase meaning your satisfaction would be poor and you would not buy an annual pass anyway as you’ve just waited 4 hours for nemesis as they’re only sending out trains with front row only because they aren’t “rubbish” and allowing every guest to choose front row.

Yes, It’s unreasonable to request (based on your ultimatum) and no it’s not “rubbish” to make the rule apply to everyone, regardless of wether it hinges on them buying a pass or not.

I think sometimes we forget people are there for enjoyment and escape, theres enough bureaucracy and draconian rules in the real world. If someone politely asks for the front row and its not going to cause issues then I personally think they should accommodate it.

Parks know guests like the front rows so I do think the front row queue should have remained. If people are willing to wait longer for it, let them!

Its like with rerides though. Towers have a blanket "ban" on them whereas other parks are more flexible.

Its a shame they removed the choice but can't expect them to bend over backwards for it. Try asking the same question at Europa and you get pure evil glares.

Contentious issue though as what about if in the natural order of things your group was about to be batched onto the front row on the next ride but the ride host allows someone in front of you to hold back to wait for the front row on that next ride, then your group ends up on a rubbish row. You'll either be a bit annoyed at having your front row spots taken unfairly, or you'll then ask the host for your party to wait for the front row on the next ride after that. They'll have to then say yes to your party and that issue could potentially spiral a bit out of control. I can see why they are instructed to say no such requests.

They should have kept the front row queue if possible.

Fair point. Its just bizarre that they had an effective solution for all of this which they removed for a fake rib cage!

I think even with the theming they could have a front row queue, if they have it after the batcher and have a small queue in that space where the height checker is where you have to ask for the front row and can be let in the small queue

But then it severely limits how many can be batched there and some will have to be turned away which again would be unfair. The fairest way is the way they have done it now if they couldn’t fit the original front row queue after the refurb.
