[2025] Rulantica General Discussion

Random kinda trip-planning but mainly Rulantica question.... I'm going on a tour which includes a couple of hours at Rulantica after a day at EP, I am not a fan of water parks so is there somewhere dry where I can be parked for a few hours with a bar, or should I do plan B which is I go back to the hotel early...

Hotel Kronasar next door has a couple of bars where you could wait.

Not a fan of water parks altogether, or just the swimming/getting wet part? Because if the latter, strongly suggest you go in without entering any of the pools - there’s literally thousands of deckchairs to chill in, and the atmosphere especially after dark is just magical.

If I can do shorts and t-shirt and lie down with a drink that'd be fine, I just really struggle with, I guess, the normal attire for going swimming where I can't hide my tummy under a baggy t-shirt.

Yeah, I wouldn’t miss out on going in in light clothing, it’s a great place to explore even without getting in the water. And as personal as body image is, let it be known that Germans are perhaps the least self-conscious people in Europe when it comes to perceived appearance. You’ll see literally all shapes and sizes.

There’s lots of place to sit down. Bar and restaurant-wise you have the two swim-up bars (soon to be three), but there are lots of out of water options too, such as:

The main counter service restaurant, the quick service place and ice cream stand, there’s a second quick service in the new slide tower, along with a cafe.

In addition, there’s a bar in Hyggedal, another in the stilt village and a third on the other side of the outdoor swim-up bar. If it’s warm enough there’s also an outdoor food and drink area at the back of Svalgurok.

In short, there’s loads of F&B options that don’t require getting in the water.

I agree with this, I had some hesitation myself when I first went for the same issues, but it just ended up being so much not a problem. You could even consider getting a loose rash guard, though I'm not clear on the rules of those on all the rides.

As others said there are loads of places to go inside without going in the pools.

I know I'm just some random guy on the Internet, and so this advise might not cover all circumstances. But I'd say never let other people's potential perception of you make you miss out on something you might enjoy.

The truth is most people spend so much time worrying about themselves they aren't usual judging others. And even if they are why should it matter?

I know this advice might not be very helpful, as it's not easy to not care what others think. As good as I personally think I am at it when I do get self conscious it can hit hard. But I can absolutely say that I've had some amazing experiences, that I wouldn't have done had I been too self conscious. My favourite trip to any theme park (Europa Bark) only happened because I ignored what others were thinking and just went for it.

So personally I'd say go to Rulantica and enjoy everything that it offers!

Equally if you really do not want to go in, you can access the Panoraama Bar from the "dry" side of Rulantica as it were, so without having to pass through the ticket barriers and changing rooms. And from here you still get lovely views of Rulantica!

You are not alone, @Katy. I am of the opinion that humans have no place in water. A couple of hours by a pool is one thing, but a whole day trapped in a water park ... and unable to smoke... is my idea of hell.

Yet all I keep hearing is "but it's really good!" from people who ignore what I just told them.
If you don't like something, you're not going to enjoy it nomatter how good it is. Save your money and have a chilled day instead. ;)

It's the evening slot so won't be a whole day, I guess something like 7-10pm? The bar you can get to from the dry side sounds like it'll do.

Thanks everyone who replied for the info as there's basically nothing I could see on the website for "what if I don't wanna get wet/is there the equivalent of the 'spectators' bit that the council pool has"

I believe there is a smoking area outside Rulantica just near the burger restaurant.

The first time I realised I was old was being given assistance (when not bloody required) to get out of a waterslide in the Sandcastle.
A couple of hours is enough.
