[2025] Rulantica General Discussion

Not usually a massive fan of waterparks, but honestly this was place was a masterpiece. Completely blown away by it. Not just the theming, but every part of the operation just 'works'. We were staying on resort and ended up paying to go back for a second evening as one day just wasn't enough.

Quite funny that I just came over here to see if anyone knew any more as just checked the Europa Park site to check some things for my upcoming trip next month and noticed the picture for Svømmepøl was no longer concept art:

Even before the official opening, guests of the Rulantica Water World now have the opportunity to swim and splash around in the new outdoor pool at selected times! So just drop by and, with a little luck, you could be one of the first visitors to Svømmepøl.

With spraying geysers, a mystical grotto and surrounded by volcanic rock, Svømmepøl invites you to enjoy a swimming experience in a rugged, Nordic landscape all year round.

The spacious outdoor pool is ideal for swimming or just relaxing. In addition to plenty of space for splashing around, guests at the water world will find relaxing retreats on gently bubbling water loungers in a shady rock cave. But the grotto is not only ideal for relaxing; younger water lovers can also accompany Snorri on his playful discovery tour through the cave as he makes friends with the cheeky fire elves.

The Svømme Bar invites you to enjoy refreshing drinks in the pleasantly temperate water, while fascinating geysers with spectacular water fountains and fine mist create a unique Nordic atmosphere.

Around the pool, sun loungers surrounded by Nordic vegetation invite you to sunbathe. Whether on comfortable loungers with a view of the sparkling water or in the shade of trees and rocks, everyone will find the perfect spot to relax. A glass-enclosed corridor from the main hall provides comfortable, weather-independent access to the Svømmepøl – perfect for year-round swimming fun!

Whether it's water fun under the Baden sun, relaxation in the mystical rock grotto or a cocktail at the swim-up bar – the Svømmepøl offers a holiday atmosphere for every taste, surrounded by a fascinating volcanic landscape.

And what makes this one different from all the other pools, besides it's shape?

This is more a general waterparks question but it is related to my June trip to Rulantica - what are peoples recommendations for photography in the pool? I.e. waterproof phone cases? It would be nice to take a few photos with friends in the bars = which I didn't do last time as I was just worried about phone getting wet! I have a fairly old phone so it definitely isn't waterproof! I see other peoples photos and videos of inside the part so ot must be achievable.

Any advice appreciated - thanks

I suspect most of those pics and videos you see are of those with waterproof equipment. There are cubbys etc to put your stuff in before entering the pools, but the reality is that you’d want to be taking pics in the pools and without waterproof equipment you’ll likely be stuck to taking it jn a waterproof case which means poor quality pics unless you then get it out to take the pics (which then gets you back to square one).

When ever I’ve taken pics, usually I get my phone from the locker, go in the pool and get a few pics and then get out and put the phone back. And any pics I’ve taken usually is just at the bar outside.

Even though my phone is waterproof I wouldn’t really trust it anyway.

When I visited I just enjoyed the water park and then when I'd done enough went back for a shower and my towel. Dried off and then got my phone to go round the indoor and outdoor parts taking a few photos.

I'm staying at the Bell Rock next month. 1 day will be at Rulantica with my wife and 2 boys (10/14). We'll be planning to spend the whole day there. Just not a clue what to bring.
When we come to the building and get bands and tickets etc I assume we then get a locker?
We booked a Lagerhus sofa. Do they have more localised lockers in that area?
Do we wear sliders, and do we need a top for when we're eating and ordering from food places? Can you leave Rulantica and get back in?

If anyone has any hacks or tips let me know, thanks

Lockers are €1 each, added to your wristband, but I seem to recall are free for hotel guests. There aren’t any closer lockers than the locker room, although you can take items in with you - the only restriction is food and glass bottles.

You don’t need a top to go to the food places, but I would recommend flip flops or the like, both for the potentially hot floor outside and also the slippery floor inside. You are technically not guaranteed re-entry to Rulantica but we’ve always been fine - just speak to one of the staff to let them know you want to leave and come back in.

Top tips:

Take some drinks in with you, especially water as the drinks bill can otherwise add up. We take water and beer in a cooler usually.

The food places can be busy, try to eat at a shoulder period. The gyros from the outdoor food stalls are very good.

Make sure you have a proper walk around the ourdooor areas if it’s warm. There’s some lovely planting and if any of your boys are young enough they’ll love Snorri Strand tucked away to the right of Svagulrok or equally Svagulrok itself.

Enjoy the swim up bar cocktails. The new pool has better seating arrangements for the bar but a slightly lesser cocktail menu.

There is no real standout slide. Some are pretty decent but nothing more. Bear that in mind, depending on your tolerance for queues. The best thing for us about Rulantica in the summer is enjoying the outdoor areas, the swim up bars and jumping on the slides/attractions that have small waits.

Use the hotel shuttle bus from Bell Rock to get there.

Would like to add one additional, but very important, tip: you can bring drinks with you on the lazy river
I kept seeing mentions of this.and thinking I'll be struggling to keep myself upright on that thing, until I realised this is probably about that Snorri indoor lazy river not that outdoor one that pushes you without an inflatable 😂
