2025: Toxicator - General Discussion

I’m surprised they haven’t added storage boxes on the platform, as it is a bit random just letting people put their things on the floor, if it hasn’t happened already I’m sure it will soon where someone drops their phone/bag and it goes under the platform.

Surely they could just add some metal boxes along the fence with lids on.

Also people won't want to leave their bags on the platform when the fountains are on full blast, as they'd get soaked.

Additional design flaw is having part of the queue within the "splash zone". Currently not a big issue since its inconsistent but I'd imagine when the fountains are in full force there'll be a massive gap in that section of the queue.

Indeed, given the new location of the ride, the fountains are a peculiarly thought out implementation.

Why on earth didn't they put cameras in the underpass? this is awful to see, I'm also a firm believer not so much in this case but more Rita that pens shouldn't be allowed; why do you need a marker while at a theme park, but whats concerning is what did they use to scrape their names/messages into the wall and if it was anything other than keys, why were they allowed in park with such items.

It is quite difficult to screen people for carrying a pen with intent.

Unfortunately, these are enough grounds for introducing price hikes to tickets and Annual Passes. If they want to deliver a quality themed experience, Alton Towers have a reason to price out teenagers and chavs who wreck the themed experience for everyone else. Otherwise, what is the point in giving us nice things?

More security around the rides and queue lines would fix this. Roaming guards ….

But - if I were Alton - what’s cheaper - 20 odd security guards or having to repair things annually (I know they don’t but they should)

As soon as I saw the underpass on the videos (not seen it in person yet), I knew it would get vandalised - just didn't expect so soon. What they should do is put up some waist height railings 18-24" away from the walls making it near impossible to touch them. Bit like the fencing in Thirteen's inside queue protecting the writing on the wall etc. If they can't do that, then put up sheets of clear Perspex floor to ceiling screwed securely to the walls. Of course they'll get scratched and probably Sharpied, but at least they can be easily replaced each season as and when required.

This graffiti is not on the underpass. To be fair I don’t think people will bother there, this is the queue line. People get bored and unfortunately this is what they do. And unfortunately Merlin should think of things like this when they design rides, as it does always happen.

The principle is still the same though, and is the same in the Wicker Man preshow and batching rooms. Clearly fencing isn't possible in there or in the queueline but clear plastic sheeting would help the vandalism. Not perfect, but the least worst solution in my opinion. Ultimately, as you say, Merlin don't help themselves by designing things this way!
