Anything like Chessie security you get a mug shot put up with the other undesirables and they just keep it mindful.
Saw a familiar face on it after "Silly String-gate" when I went in after the event.

Absolutely not foolproof, but getting their numberplate and having it alert an ANPR camera could pick up quite a lot of undesirables. A bit of effort on initial ejection bit worth it in the long run.

The best things to do to keep grafitti like this at a minimum are:
1. Ensure the ride stays operational as much as possible. This keeps the queue moving and people standing still for lesser periods of time.
2. Better queue design, the more you keep people away from walls and themeing, the less likely they are to be vandalised. I totally agree that Alton SHOULD NOT have to do this but people grafitti.
As the queue is already in place and unlikely to be easily modifiable then the only likely solutions are:
1. Repaint the wall and just accept it.
2. Repaint the wall and cover with acrylic sheets (I don't like hwo this would look but can't think of anything better.
I wonder if the queueline could be modified in any way? Maybe making it go in reverse somehow? Would require a shifting around of entrance lanes and fences but could be done, but don't think it's very likely.
Best thing would be for everyone to stop grafitti'ing in the first place. I just can't understand why anyone needs to do this and what compels them to do so.
Personally i've only written on structures at two parks:- 1. Balder (special event where we could sign the supports and hammer in a nail), 2: Knoebels covered bridge (they had boards up on it that they change evry year for people to sign).

If they are searching bags anyway, why not just ban people bringing in pens? You could certainly make an argument that no one needs one at a theme park. Even my ancient crappy old excuse for a phone can make a note if you need to write something down.

I remember getting all the Disney characters autographs as a child, in the glorious days when they freely roamed around.

I reckon a rethink about the queue covering and protecting the wall could go hand in hand to solve 2 problems at once. Repaint the wall, add higher fences to cover the wall with small gridding and a solid cover to shelter the queue from the fountains/wind/rain/sun in general
