2026: General Discussion

My unpopular opinion of the day is that I don’t like that at all!

I thought it used to look quite classy in the brand purple and gold, but I don’t think the yellow goes with the rest of the plaza.
I completely agree, Matt... Yellow is my favourite colour, but it does not suit the corkscrews on the entrance plaza at all.

Not unpopular at all - I 100% agree!

My guess is that AT realise that purple probably looks better than yellow (hence why they chose purple in the first place), but they have been on a nostalgia kick since around COVID (and/or when John Burton took over), and so they reverted to the original colour for that reason alone.

But perhaps I am wrong (as per).

It might have made more sense to repaint it yellow in 2020 rather than 2026, as it was the 40th anniversary of the ride.

Maybe a wider Towers Street overhaul is coming. Next year, and the Corkscrew is first part to this. Like sorting out the security placement should be after you pass the turnstiles

(hence why they chose purple in the first place)
As explained by others earlier, the purple was the result of planning restrictions.
I believe the planners wanted it darker, so it couldn’t be seen from outside the park.

They settled on the corporate colours of the park of purple and gold.
There has been 16/17 years of tree growth since this was originally moved to the plaza. Concern about it being seen from outside the park could be mitigated by the extra cover this would give.

Security finding folks bringing in something they shouldn’t once they are already inside the park doesn’t feel quite the right way round.
But not a fan of those security tents obscures the view of the Towers, Towers Street and Monorail overhead

They would be better off making the current turnstiles into the security area and reconfiguring the top of Towers St as the turnstiles.
