[202X] Project Horizon (SW9?): Planning Approved

Towers don’t need another 1.4m ride, they have the thrill credentials when it comes to coasters. The only area they could do with improving in the thrill arena is flat rides.

I would assume this coaster will be 1.1m to 1.2m, that’s not because it won’t be thrilling but indoor coasters can control the senses better so you get more “thrill” with less force in an indoor coaster so the restraint restrictions can be lower.
Disagree - if your heads not scraping the ceiling of the building, they’re not doing it right.

If you look at the coaster market as a whole how many actual out and out thrill coasters are built these days. For every RMC/hyper there are probable 10 family thrill coasters.

Theme and amusement parks are going down the family thrill. Its the widest market to aim a coaster at. Makes sense for their bottom line

I would be surprised if they went for a carbon copy of an existing layout but then... would budget allow for custom? I think a Spinner is marketable, in that area especially, although, I don't think they have the re-rideability that standard/suspended trains have because of the 'sickness' factor. Completely forgot about Spinball 🤣 But you're right, it's a consideration that they may not go down that route until SW has reached the end of service at Towers.

As a parent, I cannot express how excited I was when my 9yo hit the 1.4m mark last year 😂 I was measuring him constantly for months!
My daughter was the same last September. I didn’t think she was gonna be tall enough so I thought I go on Spin Jam 1st when there wasn’t a queue. We checked her height by the Smiler and a nice member of staff checked her and she was just over 1.4 and gave her a 1.4 wristband so we were both happy she got to ride the original Nemesis and for me 1 more time.

Do you think the coaster could be constructed 1st before the building is installed?

Height limits - if anyne has a child that is very borderline 1.4m (or any other height limit), get them measured at the start of the day at Guest Services in the Box Office, or at the first ride you go to. If they make the line, they will be wristbanded. Everyones spine shrinks a little when walking round all day, so you can be 1.4m at the start of the day and just under at the end.

With regard to the Horizon building - all depends how secret Towers want to keep the ride. Given the drone flyers, I suspect the steel framework for the building to be put up, followed by a lot of the cladding, including the roof - but leaving suitable gaps (e.g. a completely open side / significant part of the rear so the track for the ride can be inserted and erected). This approach would mean the most the drone flyers would be able to establish is the manufacturer from the views of the track outside the building, but not exactly what the ride will be / do inside. That said, knowing Towers the plans for the actual ride in the building will leak out.

So I was playing around with ChatGpt.....and discovered this:

Project Horizon was a proposed research and development program by the United States Army in the late 1950s and early 1960s. The project's goal was to establish a permanent military base on the moon by the end of the 1960s.
The plan involved launching a series of manned and unmanned missions to the moon to establish a lunar outpost, which would then be used as a base for further exploration and development of space technology. The project's scope included the development of advanced propulsion systems, lunar landers, and life support systems, among other technologies.
Despite early progress and significant investment, the project was eventually canceled in 1967 due to budget constraints, technical challenges, and shifting priorities within the U.S. government. While many of the proposed technologies and concepts were eventually developed and utilized in later space programs, the ambitious goal of a permanent moon base by the end of the 1960s remained unfulfilled.

Could this be what our ride is based on / themed around?

Sounds like a brilliant theme! I can see a lot of potential, although we already have a military organisation at Towers of course, and that is the Phalanx.

We also have a research facility. That wouldn't stop them though.

I'm intrigued though by this. Propulsion systems - mirrored by a coaster launch. Lunar landing- trick track.

Might just be a coincidence but an indoor ride with this project name kind of fits.
