[202X] Project Horizon (SW9?): Planning Approved

I'm pretty sure the Horizon building will be quite a bit bigger than DarKoaster's, wasn't that built in the same building as Curse of DarKastle?

Honestly I think this is very likely to be an Intamin Multidimension coaster like Uncharted, hopefully with a better throughput.

Merlin are already building an indoor coaster at Chessington so presumably that is no longer a concern if it ever was. Plus there are plenty of indoor coasters that have been built in non Disney parks since (eg. Vogel Rok 1998 and Van Helsing 2011). I'd guess cost being prohibitive is the more likely reason parks didn't favour them in the past, especially when they were less operational in the autumn and winter months historically.
 
Could they do a smiler and squeeze 5 inversions out of it indoors? Go for the world record?

Would it count as two inversions on a multi circuit ride?

As daft as it sounds I think a family thrill ride with good pre-show, station and onboard audio (maybe with jukebox capabilities) with some decent AV scenic effects on the main is exactly all it needs (see Vogel rok)

The fun of the unexpected is what makes indoor coasters so fun, (space mountain, rock n rollercoaster and the black hole)

I think the budget you’d need for something on the scale of Gringotts is unnecessary.

Ales me think more and more Horizon is cancelled

Reason - we know Merlin like copy and pasting. I know these two coasters are in the same country but America is huge.

Can’t see them building two of the same type of ride at the same time in the UK though

getting permission to build in its location is difficult, I would imagine they would want to keep it (it also is one of the most avalible expansion plot)

also building more of the same type in the UK?

I can think of may rides they have at the parks that are the same type:
nemesis reborn & nemesis inferno,
stealth & rita,
spinball & dragon fury,
RMT & scorpion & flying fish,
and some more.

This is also likely to be more of a dark ride coaster hybrid where you can have the same ride, but a very different story and it feels like a different ride. disney has multiple omni mover rides in the same park!

Not many were built at the same time though - which these two probably will be.

Time will tell I guess
 
Horizon will more than likely be more thrilling than an attraction set for LEGOLAND …. The similarity is that they will be in a building but that’s about it
 
The legoland coasters are from Art Engineering I understand. The buildings are smaller than the plans for Horizons.

Legolands are space themed and California new land/area certainly includes one of the newer Huss airboat rides (not sure if floridas does)
 
So you’re saying that both of these Legoland indoor coasters from ART are the same cost, if not more, than Ghost Train at Thorpe? Then again inflation and now tariffs will be playing a part in their high costs!

I honestly don’t care if Horizon is a clone of an existing coaster because it’s indoors and they have an opportunity to do something really cool with the theme. Towers is screaming for more indoor attractions and capacity to be added to the park. I especially wouldn’t mind if this came with an overhaul of Cloud Cuckoo Land, with a strong lineup of supporting attractions around it.
 
I do wonder if pushing PH back say until 2027 to be kind might have been a blessing in disguise if it meant they could scrap up more funds to include a retheme of TWODW for when it's licence might expire though honestly when does that licence expire does anyone know?

So yeah, killing two birds with one stone of they did this, maybe three or four birds if it includes reopening the theatre and Dungeons building but that might affect the budget for whatever PH is going to be.

Honestly, they can just demolish the 4D Cinema building now and open up the area a bit, it dates back to an old funhouse in the 70s which has been repurposed time and time again. The Nickelodeon building next door is now available too, and I think if they built a walkthrough maze attraction which is indoor/outdoor then that could be another capacity sponge for the area and possibly open up the views for Flag Tower in the background!

I'm thinking that Project Horizon is more likely to be closer to the Intamin coaster at Chessington than the ART Engineering coasters planned for Legoland.

I could be wrong but I think there would be a multi ride deal for the two Intamin coasters.

I'd say it could also mean that other parks may get Intamin rides as part of a potential deal i.e. the indoor flat ride at Chessington, the Slammer replacement for Thorpe Park (Gyro Swing) and the hopeful replacements for The Flume and Loggers Leap.

It could easily be that Slammers replacement is from Huss too.
 
Some kind of deal is incredibly likely, knowing that Chessington’s project is likely an Intamin I’d be expecting the same from Horizon. That being said, Horizon is clearly more of a coaster in a box, lacking the outdoor track, so it’s probably time to start looking at layouts Intamin offer as standard

An off the shelf layout is fine for an indoor coaster as it means a lot more can be spent on theming, and they can more than likely add Multidimension trains to pretty much any of their designs to make it unique to PH

Who wants to trawl Intamin projects to find such a layout?

I am curious though what the impact of this will be on 13, it would mean they could have 2 identical coaster types (although probably different cars (13 uses the non spinning 3X2 cars), and I think quite a bit has changed since 13, with things such as different tire drives being added) but if it goes backwards, then I feel part of what makes 13 unique is lost.

Flag Tower is covered in mobile phone equipment so at the moment there is no value in making it visible.

Travesty of planning law, can’t get approval for phone masts but can keep plastering a historic Tower with the stuff!!!!!

I'm thinking that the newer multi dimension coasters will be distinguishable to 13 with different features such as a launch, rotatable cars, spikes etc.

I'd say it even may not officially be a multi dimension coaster and could be classed as a Family Launch Coaster (DarKoaster) or a Family Spinning Coaster (Objectif Mars). These could include elements of a multi dimension coaster though as seen on coaster projects they've worked on in the past.

Compared to 13, this would be a more refined ride compared to some of the other secret weapon rides that are prototypes but this wouldn't stop the coaster having reliability issues (Rita, Wickerman, Spinball etc.)
 
Do we know for absolute certainty that Project Horizon wasn't in fact the Minecraft ride now going to Chessington? Has it been officially confirmed they were two separate projects?

Reason I ask is that building two indoor coasters at roughly the same time seemed a bit of a reach to me unless they were going to be carbon copies of each other like these at Legoland parks.

A modern take on the Black Hole would be excellent. Obviously much better effects and technology and greatly improved capacity would be required but given what they did with Wickerman and Nemesis Reborn, I'd have every confidence they could pull that off too.
