As far as I'm concerned, Huss were the original flat ride company, there's no denying how good their rides are. There's not a spin ride that can match the breakdance and they devised rides that we now take for granted such as the pirate ship and the frisbee.

However, their rides have a bit of a reputation for being expensive, overly complicated and difficult to maintain. It was fine when they were the market leaders but companies such as KMG and Mondial have since outdone them. I'm sure it's not as much of a problem on the German fair circuit where the rides are serviced regularly but parks can't afford to take their rides apart every few weeks.

As for parts, the original Huss may not exist but Huss Park Attractions still manufacture old Huss Rides and I'm sure that Huss Parts and Service would sort Chessington out with the replacement components they need.
 
Huss no longer exists - why so?

To be honest I really hope the Paramount park in Kent goes ahead. It would really provide Thorpe and Chessington with some real competition and they may decide enough is enough and finally get their act together. The competition commission forced BAA to sell Stansted and Gatwick, they should do the same with Merlin.

The sad fact is Chessington wouldn't require a huge amount of investment to make it considerably better. Instead of building a large attraction, focus on updating existing attractions and invest in a few more smaller attractions.

I have absolutely no idea why they went ahead with the Safari ride, considering the weather in the UK is normally terrible - lets face it, it doesn't compare to similar rides found in Busch Gardens.

At the moment it doesn't seem as though the park has a speciality, they don't do anything considerably well. It's a poor excuse for a theme park and a zoo in my opinion.

Not sure if this is something to do with the news segments being provided by Sky News, but I've just heard on the radio about this. Apparently the riders were stuck in a position for four hours. Very one sided coverage as there was no statement from the park at all.

This does seem very odd that a Murdoch based enterprise is going in so hard with this story, when the very same people have given away free tickets to the park through The Sun?
 
Huss are back and started producing new rides this year. The German government bailed them out.
 
Can someone please enlighten me - In some news reports, it indicates the restraints were cut open. However, in the very same reports, it includes a statement from the park, where they go on to say that the ride will be open on Monday.....

How is this possible, unless they have 40 new restraints on site?
 
Chessington have just stated on their official Facebook page that Rameses Revenge is closed until further notice, which is unsurprising, given that the restraints actually had to be cut off! I think it was a bit stupid to state that it was going to open today, to be honest.

I thought that at first to be honest. However, the more i thought about it, the more I think they were referring to the park itself as opposed to Rameses Revenge.

I suppose that does make sense, but they should've made that clearer.
 
Has anyone seen any images of the ride since the incident? I'm fairly sure one of the Sky articles from yesterday did not mention any form of cutting - so unless we see pictures, we won't really know how damaged the ride is.
 
On BBC London it showed the lap bar sections being prised open, so I would of thought that all the workings operating that section of the restraints would be damaged anyway.
 
I've seen a video of the OTSRs being cut open, so I'd imagine that damage is extensive.

An update from various sources that have been on park have said that for most of the day the ride was still stuck in the same position, with the whole gondola covered in tarpaulins. Apparently staff were positioned around it to stop people loitering nearby or taking photos.

Doesn't sound great.
 
Chessington seem to be plagued with problems at the moment. It's not nice to watch.

If they do decide to get rid of the ride, and they don't retheme runaway, then there's a nice plot of land to play with in the future. Even more if you add Toadies which has seemingly been on the way out for years.
 
Chessington have been really millitant about people taking photos when things go wrong. Even getting security to demand people's cameras are erased in the past. I have to question the legality of that.

Thorpe do the same - Someone filmed on ride on rush, and she only noticed after the ride when the phone was out. She as much as pulled the phone out his hand (she didn't, but was surprised with the way she reacted), and gave some spiel about "Merlin Copyright doesn't allow photography". Likewise, with X - the host made some kids remove some appallingly poor BlackBerry footage they'd taken.

I like to think that if I wanted a photo, I'd get one. They can't exactly stop you, nor can they take your camera off you, and further to this, they can't demand anything!
 
As far as I'm aware they don't have the power to make you delete photos from your device. The worst they can do is eject you from the park.
