Alton Towers Ruins - Behind a Paywall

If this a permanent thing, then that’s a brilliant move by Alton Towers! Love to see the heritage parts of the park on display, and it gives people that extra little thing to do that’s a little bit of a break from the hustle and bustle of the rides.

If this is going to be a more permanent thing, I’d like to see the park push the Towers as an attraction in themselves, rather than guests just stumbling upon them. If the park are still trying to push the family market, then that could be a brilliant 20 minutes or so away from the ride queues! Same goes for the Gardens too, something decent that hasn’t been really leveraged since Lightopia a few years ago and hasn’t been really been pushed since.

Has the full Towers ever been completely accessible including the Hex spot of the Towers and The Sanctuary part

In modern times the west wing has never been particularly accessible as it’s either ruined or has archives in it.

The armoury was a gift shop, picture gallery, was a ruin as was the octagon until both were re-roofed for Hex, Talbot gallery hasn’t been open to the public in theme park era as far as I know (though technically you enter the very first part of it after the steps in the octagon before you turn left).

You used to be able to get to more of the music room which was used for sanctuary, I don’t know when the north library was closed off which was also used for the sanctuary.

You could also wander quite a lot of the basement which was used for various mazes but not all of it.
