Barry Island Pleasure Park

Barry Island has made it to national news, with the words 'agonising' and 'stranded' in the headlines, I don't wish to link any others stupid articles but you can find them if you wish.

Was just a 15 minutes breakdown by the way, riders were safely let off after and were never in any danger.

My apologies for bumping the thread, but I was curious to know; is anyone aware of what Barry Island’s opening situation is outside of school holidays?

Information about this online seems to be very limited (I can only find opening hours for the next week), and what little information there is seems to be varied. Some sources say that the park shuts for the season in the first week of September, while the park itself implies that their tokens can be used “year round” and other sources seem to have posted about going there and riding the rides as late into the season as November, so I was unsure on what the actual situation was.

I’m only asking because while I’ve long never been interested in visiting Barry Island despite only living around an hour’s drive away, I’m studying a Master’s degree at Cardiff University from the end of September, and when I’m going to be spending a whole year studying in Cardiff, the SBF Zyklon credit at Barry almost seems like too much low-hanging fruit to pass up when it’s only a short train ride from Cardiff Central, which I’ll be passing through regardless… if I do a dry run of my route to university in the week before I start, I wondered about maybe popping into Barry Island and nabbing their one non-kiddie credit while I’m in Cardiff to kill two birds with one stone, if you like!

So if anyone is aware, does Barry Island Pleasure Park open at all outside of school holidays?

They do open outside of school holidays, but there are no set dates or a pattern. It's very much weather-dependent and how the owner feels. During winter months, if the park is open, not all rides are available as they are having maintenance or TLC (or cannot operate due to the cold weather). Again, there's no way of knowing what's available as they do not advertise closures.

The Facebook page tends to get updated with opening times outside of holidays, but it's not always updated. I live about 45 minutes from Barry. There have been times when the park is open, and there's nothing online stating this, and there have been times when it’s a warm spring day, and the whole place is shut.

If you're after a full line-up or a particular ride, you're better off visiting during school holidays.

Thanks @James; that’s useful to know!

The park’s lack of rhyme or reason to this is not very useful, however… maybe I am better off saving it until next summer or later!
