Blackpool Opening Weekend

Hello!

I've been pondering about potentially doing a trip up to Blackpool for their opening weekend at the beginning of March.

I've always heard about it being quite popular with the 'Thoosie Community', so was just wandering who has been in previous years? Was it any good? Is anyone planning on attending this year?

If you have been before, do you normally go as part of a wider meet up, or just do your own thing? I've heard that everyone gets together in the Velvet Coaster during the weekend for drinks and stuff, so sounds like a good opportunity to meet like-minded folks.

Be keen to hear your thoughts. Blackpool is a long old way for me (I live down in Somsrset) so looking for somw feedback before making a decision.

I’ve been quite a few times, but won’t be there this year.

Most people just hang around in spoons on Friday and Saturday night and go from there. There’s usually plenty of different groups in there.

However the park is usually pretty awful, last year I didn’t even bother with it and did sandcastle and merlin stuff. You usually find half the rides aren’t ready and it’s freezing cold 😂
 
...don't forget the freezing rain and wind.
And wall to wall thoosies vlogging all the other vlogging thoosies.
Always fun watching the Rev train get dragged back to the station on a tow rope.

If you are going for the rides alone, leave it a few weeks, when they will all be open, probably.
