Blackpool Pleasure Beach: 2023 Discussion

Granted, I haven't been to the park in 3 years and have only ever visited twice in my life, so I don't have an overly up-to-date view of the situation on the ground at Pleasure Beach, but that's just my thought.
I don't think much as changed experience wise. I might be off base taking on everyone's behalf here but I think the general concern is for the sustainability of the park. Went in August on the busiest weekend of the year in BP (air show) and the Friday was almost walk on across the park! Demand just isn't there for whatever reason.

That's not quite what she said, though, if that quote is accurate. Being 'determined' to do something this year is a neat linguistic twisting of words, which doesn't actually require anything to happen this year.

It sounds a lot like she might be setting herself up to be "just as disappointed as the park's fans" when the ride doesn't manage to return this year.
Probably true but it amounts to the same thing doesn't it, which is that it's disingenuous.

She will know concretely the likelihood the ride will operate this year. Her audience know that she knows.

The demand is very much still there, but not at the current price.
Large numbers of family groups have been driven away by the loss of the cheap entry ticket.
Say two members of a family don't do the rides, the cost increase for the non riders is 300%, you are making the family pay sixty quid extra for no benefit, so they go elsewhere, quickly!
As you say, Blackpool itself has been busy, heaving at times.
The Beach has rarely been busy this year, and has suddenly become very quiet.
Do something or go bust.
Being on the Merlin season pass would suddenly make the park very busy.
Time for the sellout.

Non-stop as well, so passengers will board and exit while it's moving, and the cars take 12 passengers each. revolution time is 15-30 mins.
So the theoretical throughput is anywhere between 648 and 1296pph though I can't see many people wanting to spend 30 minutes on it - there's not that much to look at from the top, surely?

Just Blackpool, the loonymations, the Pennine hills, the Lake District, Snowdon, the Ribble and Mersey estuaries, and on a good day...Isle of Man, and the big hill behind my house possibly!
Depending on the location in the park (assuming it's going to be in the park itself!) you're going to have part of the view obstructed by the big one though.

Another thing; the car in the pic at BPB is numbered 30, but the stats on the Buslink website state that the R80 model has 27 cars.

Sorry - yeah I was talking in economic terms. I.e. demand is want + being able + willing to purchase.

E.g. I would love a 5 bedroom house with a big garden. I could potentially pay for it but I am not willing to. I don't add to the demand for that type of house because as much as I want it, I am not going to buy it at the asking price.

Hope that makes sense. Promise I am not trying to be as pedantic as this likely comes across 🤣

If they are delivering each part of the wheel on a pick-up, it should all be here for the beginning of the 2024 season. Did Bussink throw the office chairs in for free as part of the deal?

At this rate the thing will be built & operating before Valhalla reopens

Just got an email from the beach, you can bring a friend for free tomorrow. @shakey they must’ve listened when you said about dropping the Friday night price!
Bit pointless announcing this deal 24 hours or less (was on Lancs Live at 09:30 today) - at least give people a couple of days notice - I would have gone tonight but I, like most people, have other commitments to square away first.

That means that they saw it on someone's Facebook feed at 09:28.

I'd maybe have gone tonight but I have opted for the pub instead, going to be a lovely evening, weather wise. Interesting to see how that impacts the 'crowds'.
