Or even better, a Runaway Mine Train coaster themed to thatI've always pictured that scene as a coaster

Something like Max & Moritz from Efteling.
Wallace & Gromit as the zero cars with Feathers at the back of one train and some Norbots at the back of the other one or Preston from a close shave.

I’ve never heard the rumour - fanboy gossip most likely
That is precisely what Icon is meant to be.Now that would be fantasticI hope Aardman, Nick Park and Mandy are reading this

Hmm... Merlin seem to equally be as allergic to high capacityI think this is a phrase the current BPB management is allergic to

I actually meant Avalanche, Steeplechase and the WoodiesThat is precisely what Icon is meant to be.

I wonder what's Mandy's "Chase" name would be.... "The deceitful destroyer"??

BTW I remember Morecambe having a out-back woodie (Cyclone?) that had a brakeman. Did BPB Rollercoaster have the same or any of the other woodies (past or present)??
The woodie at Morecambe ..."Texas Tornado" Cyclone to 1985, didn't have a brakeman, though it did have rear facing back carriage for a while.
The scenic at Belle Vue did.
None of the current Blackpool ones have ever had brakemen, as far as I am aware, Southport Cyclone didn't either.
Only ones I have ridden are the scenics at Margate and Manchester.

I never went to Morecambe but I imagine the ride was like Dipper and Streak in that the brakes were manually operated in the station, so in that sense you could argue the operator is also a brakeman.
Dipper used to have additional brakes on the turnaround that were also manually operated to allow for 3 train operation. I've never really known how the brakeman over there was supposed to know whether or not the track ahead was clear

I remember riding it around 1980 and I'm sure it had a brakeman (I remember thinking at the time it must be a super-cool job). Not sure if my memory is fading or if was retro-fit with up-stops. Only other one I've experienced is Rutschebanen at Tivoli - much scarier than most other coastersThe woodie at Morecambe ..."Texas Tornado" Cyclone to 1985, didn't have a brakeman, though it did have rear facing back carriage for a while.

Sorry, but I rode it quite a lot, over a good few years...my first wristband coaster on a quiet day, about a dozen rides.
Never with a brakeman when I was on it.
And the old fashioned brake levers were indeed in the station, on the platform on the right as you returned back into the station.

Then I mis-remembered - must have been Great Yarmouth (as I've never been to Margate). It was 40 years ago when I was about 10, and the thought of being a full-time brakeman put me off joining NASANever with a brakeman when I was on it.

I suppose like any job, it has its ups and downs.I rode one in Budapest with a brakeman, definitely a fun job ….
The brakeman at Belle Vue was my best mate for about half an hour...just me and him chatting, sixpence a reride for kids, that would be two and a half of these new fangled pennies.
Back on topic...I heard tales a year ago that the dome was going...lovely site combined with the Monorail and Turnpike.
