Yh they had a different layout and the new water chute was more Health and Safety than the original which would no way be allowed to operate in the UK, judging by the pictures back in the 1920s.
 
What did they eventually replace it with? I know you said that the station is still there, but that still leaves an entire ride area for use if they’d wanted to.

This is the Pleasure Beach! Not every defunct ride gets replaced by a new ride. Some get replaced by giant plant pots (Bling & Spin Doctor) and some just get fenced off (Wild Mouse)
 
Vikingar is an odd one. I've always counted it as a coaster and it was listed as a coaster on rcdb at one point, which is why they have so many pictures of it on there.

I'm not convinced rcdb are being 100% consistent with their categorisation with this one either - I wouldn't say it was any less of a coaster than Atlantica at EP. Strangely, they don't even count all the Mack supersplash rides anymore - the one at Plopsaland was taken off the database at the same time as Vikingar. I don't see why that doesn't count if the Atlantica clones do.

You forgot, Superbowl Dodgems- Sculpture Gardens, Trauma Towers- grass and stages that last like 2minutes in popularity. And of course the Space Invader. 2. Replaced by I don't know I haven't been in there since they removed that Zierer coaster.

It would be very fitting if the park opens in July too, as would I be right in believing that many enthusiasts like to visit the Velvet Coaster after their visit to Blackpool? Admittedly, the large enthusiast gatherings of old won’t be able to happen on this particular occasion, but I’m sure that some sort of socially distanced alternative would suffice!
 
I can’t say I’ve ever been to the Velvet Coaster myself, but if the food at other Wetherspoons restaurants is anything to go by, then I can imagine it makes for a very nice meal!
 
I wouldn't go to the extent of calling Spoons food 'very nice'. It is however relatively cheap and the alcohol offerings are better than those you can typically find in the Pleasure Beach. Also, I quite like to eat there given it spites Pleasure Beach for not allowing guests to bring food in any way.

A good beer or two atop the terrace is a nice break away from the crowds on a busy summer day.
