Off to BPB on Wednesday for the first time in about 8 years. I’ve only got the one day there so need to max out everything as much as I can. Any tips? If Speedy Pass is available would you recommend? Bit peeved that they’ve adjusted their opening hours to close at 5 next week from the originally stated 7.

I was there on Wednesday and it wasn't busy at all, there was plenty of time to get on everything.

Not sure on whether staggered ride openings are still a thing but you're best off riding Nickelodeon Streak, Avalanche, Steeplechase, and Ice Blast as early as possible as they can all be low capacity rides.

Do anything except Icon and Big One for the first couple of hours, you can do five or six rides in the time it takes for the queues on the other two to settle down.
Infusion, dipper, streak, steeplechase and Revoluton can be done before queues build up if you are quick.
By then Icon might be ten minutes instead of half an hour at opening.
Free the dodgems 10.

I'm thinking of popping up first week of August. I'd be on park Tuesday and maybe Wednesday. I've not been to BPB since I was about 5 but will it be pretty quiet in the week? I guess it is school holidays now

I’m at BPB now and operations are so slow! Staff are getting one train out every 5-7 minutes on the Big One. Someone please tell me it gets quicker throughout the day?

I hope so as I just joined the queue! I am guessing they are stopping every few trains to wipe stuff down. Otherwise no way it should take that long to get one train out especially with leaving empty rows currently

Edit: Yep, 2 trains on now, one on lift hill as soon as the other hits the brakes before the station. They can’t do much more than that to be fair.

Free beer in Crevettes for anyone who spots me. I feel like a proper nerd in my Mr Funshine mask & Big One hoody my bro got me for my birthday.

You might regret that offer Dave if you're that easy to spot :p;)

Just watched the Nash take over 5 minutes to dispatch. All riders were secured and the operators were just stood about waiting despite the second train being in the station empty from previous riders. Any idea what they wait for each time? This line is moving at a snail’s pace.

Never understood this myself. I think this has been asked before and nobody has come up with an answer other than ride op laziness. I must say I’ve been on it when restraints have been checked and you still don’t move for a few mins. Poor really. At least they have both sets of trains on

Edit: Icon on 3 trains, a collectors piece!

There’s definitely something wrong with National’s ride control system, ever since Kumbak butchered it. Best guess is that it somehow takes a while to clear or needs to reset once the other trains come into the station. I’ve never seen the trains leave immediately after restraint checks - it all seems to depend on whatever is slowing down the actual ride computer system.

So today I went to Gourmet Burger at FY4, queued for a while and watched a gang of seagulls go berserk over a woman’s chips, both terrifying and hilarious at the same time, then asked for 3 burger meal deals only to be told “We don’t sell burgers anymore.” Walked off and noticed that indeed the name has been changed to ‘Gourmet Fries.’ What the hell? Even with the nice toppings, £5.40 for a tray of glorified chips? No thanks.

Went to look at burger place near Alice ride, queue too long. Went to BBQ burger place near Avalanche, only do sausages now, not burgers. Went to Burger King, queueing out the door. Just no. Settled on Coasters, which was last stop before quitting & leaving park to go to Velvet Coaster. Gave address details, got table, perused VERY limited menu and took an eternity to get served despite there being just TWO people in front of me. Just one girl doing the food in the kitchen. Only offering wraps & jacket potatoes currently. Then go round to pay at the bar. Really slow. Kids not into seafood or would have settled for a tray of prawn salad at Crevettes!

I don’t know if the lack of burgers at Gourmet / Avalanche is a long term thing or just a current thing, but the fact that Gourmet has changed its signs indicates that they simply can’t be arsed doing burgers anymore which is a shame as they were really good. Gotta say that this weeing about took out a chunk of the day and I wish we’d just gone straight out to Wetherspoons from the off.

I think in terms of ride ops the park were doing the best they could (Nash dispatch been poor for some time anyway) with 2 trains on the coasters and 3 on Icon. Last ride of day was Ice Blast, joined queue which was just past the control tower at top of ramp, but it barely moved as speedy passers kept going straight on, sometimes taking up a whole ride or half of one. You could tell the people in the queue were cheesed off as it barely moved for 10 mins and what looked like a small queue ate up the last half hour of the day. Wake me up when September starts!

Was going to suggest a nice slimming prawn salad dippy, then read it in your post!
Limited food offering may possibly be due to a large supply of frozen food needing eating up before use by dates...covid issues!
Allegedy.
