Re: 2014: CBeebies Land
It was all kicking off Friday as work seems to be picking up the pace (Thankfully it wasn't a peaceful, silent day like Saturday.. They may have the weekends off but we are not use to that with rides opening recently
)
Here is a few snippy snaps I took today:
Nutty is getting a nice paint job (well.. spruce up)
As is the tree
I don't remember seeing this Saturday but.. I was too busy trying to get into Cbeebies Land... Metalwork for I can only assume the Cbeebies Land Logo
Warning: The next image may disturb some viewers... RIP Bookworm
In the morning they seemed to be doing some work around this area although I was unsure what for.. Looked like they were cementing the area.
At the end of the day it ended up looking like this...
Some more shrubbery has been added
For every branch of the old Storybook land Tree that fell.. A member of the Merlin Entertainments Group would DIE! (Too Much?)
In Tractor ride news, still no ride system or any hint of it being a ride and not a walkthrough experience
SOMETHING IN THE DUNGHEAP!
There was some sawing going off at the tractor station building however but due to trees.. Images were limited..
Also.. entrance to outdoor show area and sign shape in place.
Looks that way but seems to be closed off..may just be for building purposes or a wall to walk either side like CATCF Bon Bon Voyage sign upon exit (Way in, Way out?)
And... To finish things off... God damn it Google...
Rest of the album here with other images from around the park:

God only knows how they got permission for CBeebies Land's colour scheme, its so bright, right in the middle of the countryside! It is looking very good.

I must say it is extemely bright and I'm not too sure how happy the locals or even the council wil be about that. When driving along Farley Lane at FHT the bright colours of the buildings stuck out through the trees like a sore thumb. Obviously it won't be as bad during the summer months when the leaves are on the trees but it is very visible without leaves. Not exactly in-keeping with the natural landscape of the area.

From what i've seen so far of CBeebies Land, it looks hideous.
But as there are still a couple of months until opening it could turn out to be good yet, but i'm not hlding out.

From the views I've had of the area, it looks awesome. The colours are so bright and vivid, I'm pretty sure the kids will love it, and it looks so much nicer than before, especially Squirrel Nutty's station building.
I can understand that it looks a bit garish from outside the park though, but I guess that's unavoidable. I suppose it depends what you'd prefer, nicely painted brightly coloured buildings, or everything green or brown so it blends in with the trees.

While bright colours are good, I really hope this area has some decent pieces of theming. As much as Merlin love to repaint old buildings and get away with it as a 'theme' hopefully the BBC have made sure that this area will be something far more than that.

There is nothing wrong with bright plastic themes provided they are done properly, set in the right environment and MAINTAINED. Seuss Landing and Toon Lagoon at Universal are great examples.
Slapping multicolours onto existing themed structures and buildings in a theme park set in a historic environment on the other hand...not so good. I certainly hope there is a lot more theming to come.
Also, an area designed completely from scratch to that high standard like in that picture is nowhere near the same as painting the corrugated roofs on some old farmyard buildings in rainbow colours.

I think that the colours will probably work with what's planned in terms of rides and attractions.
From closer images it's clear that there is some detail involved in the colouring. Although the colours are bright, the old Squirrel Nutty station roof has different shading in the tiles as an example.
It's small touches like this that are what can make bright colours work well.

As posted on TowersStreet's Facebook, a close up of the 2014 map reveals what will most likely be the layout of CBeebies Land:
Other than Nina's Science Lab and the Sensory Garden [I'm quite surprised by the location of this if the map is true], all the locations we assumed are pretty much spot on for the other attractions.

It looks like the area there will be quite small. Meh, we'll just have to find out!
Rob said:I don't think anyone was expecting the Sensory Garden to be there! Looks pretty good on the map, let's hope it turns out that way in reality. I'm yet to be convinced that the theming will be anything special.
