Chessington World of Adventures Resort

The whole state of Chessington is the saddest thing these days.

  • Vampire-lacks the theatrical atmosphere it used to have, amongst less efficient operations
  • Dragon Falls- is an empty rock-less mess with barely any tunnel and theming left
  • Rattlesnake-a neglected mess
  • Ramesis- on it's last legs
  • Tomb Blaster-a complete mess mostly due to it's shoddy 2016 refurb
Even Wild Asia is getting rather tired and neglected these days too.

The new rides at Chessington could be good for the park, but most of the place is still in a shockingly delapidated state.

And don't forget how tacky land of the Dragons looks! I've always hated that area, but now everything has faded in colour, it's even worse.

The Gruffallo River Ride Adventure - A world First  Opens on 18th March 2017

Wonder if they're claiming the Heide Ghostbusters ride is a world's first after Motiongate opened one...

Working in Merlin's Marketing department is probably one of the easiest places to work in that area...

The world first pressure comes from above to make a new ride more marketable but with this it doesn't need the world's first it will be a hit with families and could be one of Merlins best dark rides.

Let me put the question to the complainers in this thread another way. Does the 'world first' marketing tool harm the campaign in any way? Is it neutral and inconsequential toward the success of the campaign? I suggest it is neither of those and can only assist in making the campaign more successful.

I agree - but you have to get people there in the first place to enjoy it and this helps create interest in the ride. Most media coverage will mention the fact that it is a world first. In a society obsessed with brands and IPs, the fact that this is indeed the only place where you can experience the IP in this way is a solid message.

Still lost by the complaining in this thread.

The world's first won't harm the campaign but in most cases isn't necessary or economic with the truth i.e. Galactica.

I just find it amusing. World's first this, world's first that. I get why they do it and it does make sense, it just allows for me to have a little laugh. World's first CBeebies Land Hotel is the most amusing so far, there's aren't any other CBeebies Lands for a start!

:)

It definitely doesn't hurt the ride to use the label "World's first" (it almost certainly does the opposite, I'd say). It's just the phrase has been so overused that, as an enthusiast, the term holds no real excitement for me anymore.

As long as the worlds first does not take too much budget from the whole ride and the ride quality is top notch.
It won't have a world's first element like the secret weapons, just the theme of the ride is a world's first.

This guy is mad.

This was discusser recently, but he DOES have some points that are quite right and need to be looked into; however the clear vendetta against Merlin and poor usage of stats makes his points muddy and confused...

Not helped by daft enthusiasts kicking up a fuss with him because he dares attacks Merlin over quite serious matters...

The manner of his attack is not normal, it's obsessive. Regardless of how good his points are, reading just 10 seconds of his tweets makes me automatically side with Merlin.
