Bit of a random one… my fiancee says she has a memory that she thinks is from Chessington of there was a stationary bike that you cycled on in some room/booth, the room would go dark and then a skeleton would appear next to you also riding a bike.
I’ve got no idea what she is on about, so does anyone know if this was a thing and where it was? Would’ve been probably mid to late 00’s.

Ah, thanks! She did start to doubt herself and I’d gone to Chessington a lot more than her when we were younger and I had no memory of what she had said so that makes sense now.Lol absolutely not Chessington, that was in the Magic Theatre at Legoland

Vampire wasn't supposed to be operating during winter, but now the plan is to have it up.But it's autumn?
I've booked for next month. First time visiting in a very long time, I am not optimistic for my enjoyment so might try and just take the bambino round the zoo all day.
And maybe Tomb Blaster as apparently babies can ride that.
This is complete speculation, but I'm guessing someone high up has pushed for vamp to be open winter against the engineers wishes. Why that means they're doing work on it now I don't know, unless it's some kind of preliminary service check to see if it's feasible? No idea lol

If you call it "annual maintenance", which it is, rather than "winter maintenance", it makes far more sense.
All rides need a certain amount of stripping and inspection each year - as parks move towards year-round operation, they have no choice but to push this annual maintenance out of winter, or else all rides will be out of action at the same time.
Disney etc. have done it for decades - they just call it 'Refurbishment'.

The Chessington website lists it as reopening at midday tomorrow. Tbh, ride availability isn't great currently anyway as Croc Drop, Zufari, Griffin's Galleon and Dragon's Playhouse are listed as closed all day.

This is purely anecdotal, but I find Chessington’s ride availability usually seems to be a lot worse on off-peak days. Pretty poor since off-peak guests are paying the same price as those visiting at weekends.

I came here to amend this lol.If you call it "annual maintenance", which it is, rather than "winter maintenance", it makes far more sense.

I only declared winter maintenance as a quote from the park, but after speaking with an engineer, things were made far more clear as to what was going on.
Scratch what I said about the winter, as apparently vamp IS going down for its actual winter maintenance.

Not worth going if Vampire is down.
Absolute classic, still my favourite there.
