6'1 here and I can only manage two rides on Smile before my shoulders are in too much pain to go on it again. Them restraints are made from a tough material and do my shoulders no good. Them couple of jolts on the coaster too add to the pain as well.

I think its the shape of them rather than the material, since the Oblivion and Nemesis restraints are rock solid, but are less snug than the Gerst OSTRs.

Personally, I always thought they were quite soft and comfy and haven't had restraint problems.

I personally think it's a fairly smooth ride compared to other gersts I have been on. Going off topic slightly has anyone else noticed the smell of the restraints it's horrendous.

I only noticed it once when we rode it first train of the day on a damp day. Funnily enough that was the same day we got an evac because someone threw up!
Anyway back on topic I find front row so smooth and smoother when it rains

August 2016 we were front of the queue in the morning before the ride opened and we watched them testing with the water dummies.

We were first on, front row, first train of the day and the seats were wet from the water from the dummies (it was a dry day) and the smell was horrendous. Like a really strong smell of puke. I thought it may have been stagnant water that they'd filled the dummies with.

Never thought of it being sweat. Yuck. The smell was nowhere near as bad later in the day.

I don't suppose the mist from the Innoculator/Giggler helps.

Really dont find it to be as bad as some say. Was at PA for the first time last month and found Dragon Khan to be far more uncomfortable

To compare, what state was Saw in at 5 yrs old? Was it better or worse than present Smiler?

I rode for the first time a couple of months back. I found that the two middle seats on the second row were fine, however when I sat on the far left seat on the front row, I felt like the whole train was being shaken around. Extremely rough.

I've rode it in every row and I've never come off thinking it was genuinely rough. Outside of a couple jolts it's not bad for me. Front is best though.

That's odd, that's my favourite seat for a smooth ride!

The Smiler is generally a great experience, i've only experienced it rough twice or perhaps thrice, but it can never be as buttery smooth as Nemesis

Smiler was definitely smoother than Saw... The possibility that it will be that bad in the future is pretty heartbreaking

I've only done The Smiler twice, despite visiting 6 times last season (I managed to have the worst luck) but two rides I had weren't actually that bad. My first one on the back row I don't fully remember because I didn't notice stuff like roughness then but the second time on front row seemed really quite smooth
