Sometimes the slightest bit of blowing crap (crisp bag/shopping bag) triggers brake assist.
Old punter had it on his top end golf (I think), switched off in seconds after the first scare.
 
Mine sometimes randomly flashes BRAKE on the dashboard - scares the crap outta me. Usually if I’m approaching a bend which has a lamppost on it. Thinks I’m going to crash into the lamppost.
