Drayton Manor Park

In the deleted section of that interview with Mr Bryan, I am pretty sure it said 'sold' which could mean sold for torture elsewhere or for scrap, I guess.

What happened to the link posted earlier?

I believe it is not supposed to be public at this stage, which I was unaware of, but is also fair enough.

I guess it will make itself public at a later stage.

As for G force, it is sad to see it go. I did not like it much but I knew it would be removed this closed season.

I do hope though such a sale will help them temporarily balance the books while they find a permanent solution to bring them back into profit. The ride was not very good and is better off sold. I would have thought this will bring in a substantial amount of cash. Something they really need right now.

I think Drayton looking at the 1.2m tall max height and you only got to look at Spinball, 13 and Wickerman the type of coasters Drayton could have if they were brought out.

Drayton know they lost the teenager age group and I noticed a big difference since Drayton been focusing on families up to 12 years old that the graffiti nearly gone(shockwave was covered in it years ago) and there’s no damage to any of the rides. It’s just families with young kids having fun and adding rides the whole family can go on. Even my 4 month had fun on a couple of rides.

I don't normally watch Shawn's vlogs, but this one I found very interesting, Shawn sharing his memories on the Pirate adventure, the up coming auction and some recent footage of the Pirate adventure with the doors open and all the auction items all lined up inside.

I could have quiet easily post this under the TPWW thread as this is the first of many vlogs where Shaw will be sharing his memories of rides that are no longer around and why they closed.

Interesting evening at Drayton tonight. Some quite interesting props and the like, hope people picked up some cool stuff.

Yeah it was a very good evening and was nice to meet other theme park fans and hopefully the park will do another 1 in 6 or 12 months time as I bet the park got lots more stuff to sell including the cable cars.

It was a great auction and all of the people who came were fantastic company. Given the asking, I thought I'd share on some of what I did get. Can't post pictures of the items at this moment in time, as some are some quite large scale set pieces and arrangements still need to be made. Yes, I'm that sad ;) but I've wanted to get a collection for a long time, just the one
I bought a cannon (pressurised air powered) from the battle , alongside a 2 metre tall set piece which set where the cutthroat pirate from above used to come down from. I’ll hopefully be using these to create a set of some kind.

I also went for the original 1996 Haunting headstone, without the animatronic head that was removed for other purposes years ago (wiring for the head is still there though ). The headstone was replaced with the tomb quite early on as I’m sure many remember, where the bats used to appear and where Agatha now appears. It’s very big however, so will arrange collection for a later point. Plans are to (try to ;) )restore it to original quality.

I also went for a Jungle Cruise tribal face mask, which existed I believe during the snake section of the cave finale during the period in which it existed on the ride. I went on Jungle Cruise when I must of been about 4 or 5, and I can barely remember it beyond the terror I had for the hippos and the scene at the end. Numerous individuals have pointed out that the mould was copied from Sparks original design at an old animatronics show, and was from a later done GLD Jungle Palladium show which I mentioned a long while back on this thread. I've been debating about the dates of the masks with people at the park for a while now, and we cannot pinpoint any particular year. Originally it was 'late 80s' then it switched to 1976 which it clearly wasn't as that was by the original American fabricator and before the Jungle Palladium show existed. The emblems have had an extremely interesting journey since they were removed, and have seen a lot of the park over the last 20 years, if I might add.

In terms of signs, I went for the Golden Nuggets instructions board, and the 'exchange booty for cash' (no connotations for that sign needed ) which existed in the Pirate Adventure queue line next to the big door and exchange sign.

These nice certificates were given to all of us who bought significant items. Here's mine of the Haunting stone. Love the last comment underneath

I'd like to say well done to all those at the park who tirelessly worked to make the auction happen, and that a success has definitely been made of it. It was a weird blend of nostalgia, happiness, and a little tragic too, given the history that many of these props and set pieces have.

Well just me haha! After the auction I found an old photo of the Meli Park parrot show in their archive and recognised it—weird coincience! They'd have used the same mould to cast the jungly props. Same with the Pirate skeleton that sold, the same skeleton can be spotted in a lot of classic dark rides doing different movements

The original Jungle Cruise finale was themed in house by Drayton in the 70s so very sure the prop is late 80s era
