Efteling: General Discussion

Hey,

Can anyone let me know any transport tips(bus/train) from Eindhoven to Efteling? I have in the past got a taxi…but this is not really an option this time due to money.

Take the train to 's-Hertogenbosch (Den Bosch) or Tilburg.
There are bus connections that go to Efteling from here (bus lines 300, 301, 136, 800 and 801).

Coming to Efteling by public transport

Efteling can easily be reached by public transport from anywhere in the Netherlands and Belgium. Find out which train or bus connection you need to get to the Park, Efteling Hotel, Holiday Village Efteling Bosrijk or Holiday Village Efteling Loonsche Land.

Tilburg will likely be the easiest and quickest train station from Eindhoven. The bus station is right by the train station and the Efteling bus is really easy to find - takes about 20 mins from Tilburg. Tap on and tap off both the train and the bus with a contactless card. You can plan your journey on the NS website and 9292.
 
How is the queue for Danse Macabre? Is it generally moving and well themed?

We likely won’t be able to access the virtual queue due to the time constraints (code expires after 15 minutes combined with multi hour wait).

We have a facility card but I can’t determine if that only allows access to the alternative experience and if it bypasses the pre-show?

Edit: Virtual queue is currently 6 hours :eek:

Facility card does allow access to main show as Mrs used it last year, but as we used the parent swap as well and she was in wheelchair I'm not 100% sure what she got up to. Skipped the "pre-show" if I recall.

I only ever used SRQ as well so I'm minimal help. Virtual Queue system has always been a bit of a mess at Efteling though.

It’s now up to 7 hours! Park does look very busy today in general.

Ok thanks, well good to know we have that as a back up option. Hopefully it’ll be similar to last year where everything was 20 mins or less but I fear the Brits are increasingly discovering Efteling.
 
One-off virtual queues can get arbitrarily long as there is often no tangible downside to joining one - for most people it doesn't matter if the return time is many hours later. The original VQs at Towers sometimes ran out mid-morning on busy days - back then if you didn't have a timed ticket you simply couldn't ride as there was no "standby" queue.

In the case of Danse Macabre, you can see your return time in the app and plan to be in the area when the window opens. Note that even after booking your return time can change - we nearly missed our slot as a result.

That’s why it would be challenging for us to use it, it’s difficult to get my son somewhere with a 15 minute window in a park that size let alone if the schedule changes.

Good they have both options and the standby queue doesn’t seem to be hideous as a result.
 
You staying on-site when you go?

Get to it during ERT just before the park itself opens would be the best suggestion. As the main queue is accessible anyway I'm not sure what provisions there are for it. Think it moves reasonably but could be over stimulating with the spoopy noises.

We are staying on site but getting up early is often tricky!

Spooky noises are generally ok, especially if it’s dark as he loves being in the dark.
 
He'll love the indoor waiting area then.

Unfortunately my little one still has no qualms being up at 6/7am so can only relate to that with the Mrs :tearsofjoy:

I'm not sure if it'll get a similar first thing rush now especially if a virtual queue is implemented. Just keep an eye on the times is the best suggestion given the circumstances. Maybe they'll even have opened up that back route by now that leads onto the entrance promenade which would help access times.
