Energylandia (Poland): General Discussion

It'll still be excellent nonetheless. The vest isn't obtrusive as the B&M ones for example.

They might as well class this as two separate theme parks. Cess Pit Land featuring all the crap across the road, then the actual Energylandia with Zadra and Aqualantis.
 
I think you’re the first person I’ve ever heard speak badly of it @D4n; most rave about it and call it one of their favourite coasters in the world, even those with very high coaster counts! What was it that didn’t make it click for you?
 
There is nothing unique or special about Hyperion. It has one relatively decent airtime hill, but then the moment it comes out from the dive loop it becomes nothing better than average. Not to mention the splashdown at the end is pointless, but also slices at you like razors on the back row. It's painful, gets you wetter than some of their water rides, and spoils the ending totally.
 
@Matt N What Danny said, pretty much. I found it incredible that a coaster that hits such speed finds so little to do with that speed.

I also found the whole farce of having to wear goggles on the front row a bit gimmicky and tedious. It was unnecessary and certainly took away from that experience.

... oh and I got wound up by the operations on it, but that was just a personal thing that peeved me and nothing to do with the ride itself (except that it never got to 'warm up' I guess, not that I'm convinced it would have made much difference). Admittedly it was *dead* on park when I went but it was only dispatching once every 20-30 minutes (no exaggeration) because they were waiting to fill the train.

Yeah, a real dead rubber as far as I'm concerned. Well-below expectations (in contrast to Lech which is amazing!)
 
Ah right; thanks guys! I was merely surprised, because so many people rave about Hyperion! To many, it’s their favourite coaster of the Polish lineup, whereas you guys seem relatively non-plussed by it.

Well, people rave about Lech too, but I’d say its praise seems more muted than that of Hyperion on the whole. There are plenty of people who love it, like yourselves, but I think it falls more into the “very good” camp for most. Out of interest, if any of you have ridden an RMC Raptor, how does Lech compare to one of those, as I always thought it looked quite similar for some reason.

Although having said that, Zadra now exists as well.
 
The issue lies in the fact that Hyperion was vastly overhyped, yet Lech received very little coverage and there was virtually no hype about it. Out of the two, Lech is much more surprising in how smooth it is, how it whips around the layout, and even has a grey-out spot.

The reason reviews Lech are far more muted than Hyperion is because there are people who have hopped over to Poland for multi-day visits to Energylandia under the pretence it's some sort of European coaster mecca. Legendia on the other hand only really has Lech as the primary pull, and people have frequently overlooked it for a totally unnecessary second day at Energylandia. It's a shame because, despite the park lacking in attractions in comparison to the offering in Zator, it's a more pleasant atmosphere and park to visit.

As far as comparisons to a Raptor go, I'm yet to ride one but I suspect the smoothness is equalled with Lech; albeit the transitions look far snappier.

One thing that I admit has always confused me about Hyperion; why did they make the water splash like they did so that it actually soaks the riders? They probably had a reason, but I’m surprised it wasn’t done differently. If they wanted to stick with the jets that didn’t actually slow down the ride, they could have done something like Shambhala, where the jets spray up beside the train and don’t get you wet (as far as I’m aware):

Or even something like SheiKra has, where the splash actually serves as a braking system for the ride; it admittedly soaks the spectators, but doesn’t touch the riders:


They probably had a good reason for doing the water splash as they did, but I was only wondering. For those of you talking about having to wear goggles on the front row, I think the water splash is likely the reason.
