Energylandia (Poland): General Discussion

I’d say this is pretty good news. Six Flags Mexico is probably the best of the three Six Flags parks I’ve visited but it is somewhat lacking in modern coasters. The last new one they built was a pretty generic S&S 4D coaster, the likes of which can be found all over the place. This will really enhance SF Mexico’s coaster line up and tempt me to do a return visit.

Another two days at energylandia, my second home park almost. The park is really taking major steps now, with the completion of sweet valley they have a real theme park feel to the back of the park, one of the best atmospheres I’ve ever experienced in a park. Zadra and Hyperion amazing as ever too. They also seem to be starting to do bits of work to the front of the park, some of the cringeworthy parts of the park have slowly been changed, but they have a very long way to go. I love this place, it’s welcoming, full of rides and the cleanest leisure environment I’ve ever experienced. Let’s hope we see some more major progression in the front of the park, a major coaster or ride in that area with a cohesive theme should be the next step.

They definitely need a dark ride. Given their love of Vekoma I do find it a little strange that they haven’t got a Vekoma Madhouse, maybe they accidentally skipped over that page when they were ordering one of everything from their catalogue.

As for another major coaster it’s hard to think of something they could really use as they’ve got most bases covered. They’ve got an RMC, a hyper, a multi launcher, a big water coaster, and an invert (as well as a family invert and a mine train amongst the other coasters). Obviously the Viking coaster needs to go and I think that maybe a good replacement for that might be a Gertslauer Bobsled coaster. I’d replace the drop tower with one of the large Intamin tilted seat models (like Ikarus at Grona Lund) and add a Funtime Starflyer or Mondial Windseeker. They could also do with replacing their crappy tracked dark ride with an ETF Systems trackless one (ie Popcorn Revenge). I know that they call Zadra their “wooden coaster” but perhaps something they could use is an actual family thrill wooden coaster.

Honestly think they need to bin a few coasters. Viking, Circus Coaster, Frutti Loop, Happy Loops and Mars could all easily go. Plenty of small coasters still and means things can be reshuffled to provide space for better things.

Their coaster collection during their early days always reminded me of Wonderland Eurasia, except with more subtlety and WAY more quality.

I suppose it's great if you're a youngun though and you've accumulated a decent number of creds on your first ever park visit lmao

Hopefully not before I go again though. I still need all of those except Viking!

I don’t think there’s too much need to bin the junior coasters. Obviously Viking is a crap coaster and can go but I have no problem with the other ones. They are all small coasters that don’t take up much room, provide variety for the younger kids, are all located in fairly unobtrusive places, and also help to keep the queues down on the other better family coasters. Sure, they look a bit garish but there’s nothing that wrong with them and I don’t think their removal would make any difference to the scope for redevelopment plans as they could easily be moved.

The other coasters never have any queues though (well, except Hyperion and Zadra but I highly doubt they have much overlap with the target audience of Frutti Loop or Circus Coaster). And you’ve still got the 2 family boomerangs, 3 Vekoma juniors and the Preston and Barbieri thing.

The one that I find a bit mystifying is Frida, It seems like it was just plonked at the end of the park for the sake of it and I’ve always felt that it would be much better if it were an enclosed dark coaster say inside a nicely themed castle. Certainly the layout isn’t very interesting and it’s got no theming to speak of so I do wonder if that was the intention to have done something more with it but maybe the money ran out.

Not saying they can't be replaced but if they want to be a serious park it'd be a good step.

Dark ride is their next big thing. Going in the sweet valley area, in the left hand empty building. But hopefully of quality, monster doesn’t give me hope but you never know. Love the place with a passion but it needs so much more to be considered a destination. They are a rollercoaster park currently not a theme park:

An astute observation. There’s definitely a disconnect between the quantity in their lineup and their overall offering.

It feels like their focus needs to switch from just installing MORE STUFF, to crafting a more coherent park from their existing hardware.

That switch seems to have happened, but the crap is still there.

Sorry if this has already been posted, I was just curious to see what everyone thinks lays in store for EL, After the rapid building of coasters its all come to a stop and with the tilt coaster being scrapped do they even need a new coaster. I would like to see a great dark ride, Tidy up of the front of the park and a good on site hotel.

The park had plans for two hotels and an indoor waterpark both of which were on the maps during the 22 and 23 seasons, but this year all of that is no longer on the maps so can only assume that was scrapped.

Whilst I get that EL has invested at an unprecedented scale up until now, I do also think it’s a real shame that pretty much all investment other than cosmetic improvements now seems to have dried up (I don’t include Sweet Valley since that was meant to open two years earlier and looked pretty run down even on opening weekend).

It’s new investments that keep people coming back. I went to EL once in 2022, and again in 2024 partially for the opening of Sweet Valley and to show the park to my wife who’s not been with me the first time. But now, with so much competition on the European theme park market, I’ve little desire to go back.

Your average person in Poland may go back every few years, but lack of investment will see them lose interest. We saw this with how much Thorpe Park’s attendance fell when investment went quiet after years of rapid growth. I almost wish that EL had kept a few of the coasters in storage and rolled them out over the coming years, but maybe one of the conditions of the EU grants was that they had to get them open straight away I suppose.

From my frequent visits to Poland not just in the tourist areas, most people know of and rave about the park. But luxuries are very different. They absolutely love a water park or spa. Most towns and cities I’ve visited in the country have an abundance of hot water spas / Aqua parks, so it makes massive sense for them to have the water park included in entry. An indoor water park would be the best move for them in terms of localised visitation from the polish community, a hotel also would be a big step. However with the western camp having an extension and a new restaurant built this year I don’t see that happening too soon. Money seems to be sparse for them now, yet the park is still very well maintained and extremely well operated with downtime almost nonexistent. I do see another big coaster coming eventually, it’s what they’ve built their brand on after all. But don’t expect another Zadra or Hyperion, I simply don’t see them funding it right now, they just can’t attract Europa park or even Portaventura numbers.

The money has clearly dried up, which is somewhat concerning. I'd imagine they are no longer getting the same amount of EU funding (or other, won't pretend I've been totally clued up on the funding model for the park) than they once did.

The Tilt Coaster was nailed on but ended going to the US. The hotels that they wanted to build are no longer on the map. It took them far longer than it ever should have done to complete Sweet Valley.

If guest numbers are not high enough to sustain decent investment going forward, then it could be a bit of a worry. The park must cost a small fortune to operate!
