Energylandia (Poland): General Discussion

Has anyone ever visited during their winter openings? Cheap flights in January make it tempting to get a coaster fix, but not too sure how tempting looking at the temperatures over there?
Worth a poke in December, but might be risky in January. Just had a look at the weather in Zator and it's as cold as -12°c in the daytime this coming weekend so unlikely Zadra will be running.

It's a good event though, they add market stalls for extra food and booze options and everything worth riding will be open where possible.

Oh, wow! To have the train stuck there like that must have required a perfect storm of circumstances… you’d think it would typically roll one way or the other!

It does seem very odd that Energylandia are bothering to open in late January and early February (albeit weekends only), when they're not even reopening in time for the Easter weekend. i can't imagine the park is at all busy this month, compared with the number of guests they could get over a long holiday weekend in springtime.

It’s very bizarre. Their winter event lasts longer than Phantasialand, Europa or any of the other seasonal parks which they are presumably modelling their winter event on.

I watched a vlog that Coaster Dad did from Energylandia last weekend, and yes the park was completely dead, everything was walk-on. Easter, as you say, would surely draw much bigger numbers and be more comfortable in terms of operating temperatures, both from an engineering and visitor point of view.

It’s one of the many mysteries of Energylandia. I guess that the bizarre nature of virtually every aspect of this park is partly why we love it. Right?

Looking on BBC Weather, temperatures seem to be improving this weekend with plus numbers for most of the day. So I think we can safely say that the weekend just gone was unusually cold.

Perhaps in hindsight, the park should have closed since, even with their lower temperature thresholds, last weekend was challenging for ride operation. I expect it’ll be back to business as usual this coming weekend.

Not unusually cold at all, just typical mid continental winter weather.
Typically down to minus ten in Jan/Feb daytime, down to minus fifteen...rarely gets above freezing.
Can go down to minus thirty for days at a time in really cold spells...every few years.
Not rollercoaster winter weather at all.

I went on Sunday January 25th (coaster dad may have even been the British vlogger that we clocked), and we were extremely fortunate with the weather, as it only drizzled a bit towards the end of the day and the temperature was in the very low positives all day. I’ve no idea why they open though - the park was completely dead with our longest wait being in the front row seats on Hyperion, waiting for enough other guests to join us to dispatch.

The event itself is really good with lots of decorations, fire pits, and Christmas markets all over the place. I don’t understand the logic with which rides they do and don’t open, though. I’d estimate about a third of the park’s rides operate (including around 2 thirds of the coasters), but the spread is far and wide across the whole park, so you’re constantly walkimg past closed rides and cordoned off areas.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m glad both Hyperion and Zadra were operating, but it doesn’t make logical sense to me. They could easily get away with opening just the front half of the park and having Hyperion and Formuła as the headliners of the event. It seemed bizarre for the, to open Sweet Valley for the 2 coasters and a market, but have the filler rides all closed off.

I was under the impression that everything was open that could be open during Energylandia’s winter event, rather like Europa Park and Phantasialand in the winter (obviously water rides closed when it’s below freezing), I had no idea that filler rides were closed. Are you able to elaborate a bit more on this?
