Food & Beverage: The Aramark Era begins

I could be wrong here, but wouldn't wage growth for the employees automatically stimulate price growth for the consumer and then contribute to high inflation?

That's from a wider viewpoint rather than Aramark specifically, though.

No because unlike the 70’s inflation is currently stimulated by low supply rather than high demand (through pay increases).

This isn’t wage growth, it’s wage reduction. An 18yr old who worked at Alton Towers last year in F&B was paid £9.50 an hour from Merlin, this year they will be paid £6.83 from Aramark.
Ah, sorry... I thought that people meant that Aramark had kept the wages stagnant rather than increasing like many companies have been.

That's a big decrease, actually... an 18 year old working at Alton Towers would really notice a difference in how far their wage goes, particularly given the current geopolitical situation.

Could Aramark be planning to operate the F&B units for longer, thus giving the employees more hours to make up for the loss in pay? I was under the impression that some of Towers' F&B outlets do not operate every day... could Aramark be planning to change that?

If my employer told me I had to work longer hours just to get the same pay as last year, whilst inflation is running at 10% I know the two word reply I would have for them.

...and this ladies and gentlemen, is why a lot of people are genuinely better off claiming benefits. They'd surely be worse off working for a company like Aramark full-time and trying to pay their own way in the world than having their accomodation, prescriptions etc etc paid for by the state. Also, no transport costs to pay for. I don't agree with it, but I don't blame people either. The country is broken.
If you are single, or a couple without young kids, you have no choice but to take jobs such as these, or your benefits are cut after a few months.
The "sit on the dole and do nothing option" has been and gone for some considerable time.

That's not everyone though. Anyway, even if you're in those categories, you can still claim to not be fit for work through mental health problems even if you don't actually suffer from them (the new bad back from the 1990s etc). I know first hand very closely a couple of brothers who were little sh**s at school, then both went on the sick after school. Firstly it was having a bad back and not being able to walk properly and a decade or two later it's the mental health route. Never gone out and done a minimum wage job, or worked for anyone else in their lives, for that matter. They used to sell knock off video's from their house, then it was DVD's/CD's, and obviously a bit of weed. Had their own flats provided by the council, living with their girlfriends who didn't work either. They've still never got their hands dirty to this day for anyone but themselves, off the books.

Viva the revolution. Milk the government for all you can I say.

They have only done exactly the same to us right? It's a dog eat dog world out there.

I hope they actually struggle to fill these rolls because if they fill them, they justify the wage they pay.

Kids really enjoyed using the iPads. It added to the experience and gave them a bit of responsibility ordering the food for others.

Sick of these stupid ruddy apps - everyone should refuse to use them especially in an expensive restaurant. There is less and less human to human interaction now, especially with the self service check in as well on the hotels.

Sorry but they can stick this automation and self service where the sun don’t shine (unless they significantly reduce their prices to justify a crappy guest experience)

Have they forgotten that the WiFi is extremely terrible?
When I was there at Christmas, I noticed a square box attenna thing attached to the outside corner of the covered area roof of Woodcutters. I thought then I wonder if it was wi-fi access points. Perhaps they've installed them in restaurants to push this way of ordering.

They’ve always been in various places ever since they started offering WiFi.

Yeah there's been some there for a while, but right across the park there were a fair few new ones which've cropped up. Considering that the old network was...iffy to say the least across the duration of last season I think it's fairly likely these are their replacements.
