Food & Beverage: The Aramark Era begins

If you knock off the 20% MAP the prices are reasonable (by eating out standards). The problem is the people with MAPs generally go more regularly so are unlikely to make food and drink such a big part of their day, and the non annual pass holders are put off by the extortionate prices, so then you end up with a situation where neither annual pass holders or non passholders are particularly using the food and drink options.

They should just knock off the 20% from the menu price and remove it from the passholder benefits imo, though admittedly that might be unpopular for other reasons.

I wonder if they base prices on the MAP discount and inflate accordingly. The only problem with this, though, is that it might put off visitors without a MAP.

Either way, all guests will judge food and drink at face value. Prices are extortionate for the quality of the food. At the very least (as mentioned), a drink should be included in all of those van prices.

Anyone eaten in RCR yet this year? Just wondering if it has gone downhill even more lately - been looking at Tripadvisor and the majority of reviews from this year are abysmal- mostly 1 star and a recent one mentioning illness from eating there.

I know it wasn’t great before but is it even worse now?

It was fine. We ended up waiting FOREVER for our food and my Nemesis black burger was very toasted which was strange.

Only ate there because of "The Restaurant Formerly Known as WoodCutters" only had the stupid Donut Burgers at the time.

I can understand charging for water in this case, they are mobile food vans typically with small water tanks (for cleaning / washing) so their water is probably bottled if it was a permanent place I wouldn't be happy with it (although £3.50 is very expensive)

They are a food van, in the middle of a themepark, that is attached inventory wise with the rest of the food/drink inventory across the park and group, including their bulk purchase power. The logic you use would work for an independent trader, these food vans however, are not.

There is no excuse for charging that much.

By the same logic presumably they can't charge less than anywhere else in the park either.

Not that i'm defending the prices.

I would agree, I did say £3.50 is very expensive, I was just saying why they couldn't have free water because of the food truck limitations

In fairness the fish prices aren't far off the local chippy these days.
True, if the fish is fresh and not some mass-produced frozen fare (which my guess would be). Water should be £1. Even in a posh London restaurant it's only £4 for a large bottle. Why?? Because if they charged more they'd be outed for price gouging. Like Merlin should be!!!

Ottolenghi in Islington charges £4.50 for a large bottle of water.

José Pizzaro's Lolo charges £6.50 for a large bottle of water.

Restaurant Gordon Ramsay charges £7.00 for a large bottle of water.

None of them are exactly posh, just frightfully middle class.

The fish is rarely fresh in a chippy.

Watching VLOGs about Epic Universe, and from what I’ve seen so far the pricing for food there is cheaper than Alton Towers and the quality is high.

Shows you how far they’ve fallen if they’re more expensive that Orlando parks!

Something really needs to change.
Towers food for the most part is poor quality and expensive however I don't think all the food outlets are bad there are a few good ones reasonably priced like Coach House Confectionery, Generator, Eastern Express and the newer places actually have decent quality.

Its the price that really puts me off from buying but that's the same across the UK food is expensive.

Actually went to a pub last night which was more expensive than Alton. A burger was £23.95, a sandwich was £14 while desserts were £11.

In that instance I would have actually taken the Alton food!
