Food & Beverage: The Aramark Era begins

Some people just like knowing its pre-paid. So they can spend £50 per person when booking the hotel and then not worry about how much lunch & dinner will actually cost them.
I could see this, especially with business getaway trips being able to get an invoice, or at the least being able to pre paid without requiring a company card or keeping receipts, making it much easier to organise and requires much less interaction with finance departments even if it is more expensive for the company

For corporate events there already are packages and vouchers available https://www.altontowers.com/conferences-and-events/packages/

People might buy it, but will they be happy....? My guess is the saving will be minimal than "a la carte". The lack of a Freestyle cup on any plan is strange - especially given no-one buys Freestyle cups for every member or a group (or maybe I'm just brought up as a tight northerner).

I can't personally see much value in any of the plans compared to "pay as you go". Certainly if you're staying at the hotels you already have deep pockets!

I reckon they are desperate with spending down the less people use Aramark food the more likely they'll make a change

Last time I visited the park, we left around lunchtime after a lazy morning riding just a few attractions) visited the Talbot Inn and had an amazing Sunday Roast sat outside in the sunshine. It was glorious.

Sooo peaceful, you'd never think you were sat less than a mile from a major theme park!

Best time to do that is during Scarefest, where you can do mazes during the early parts of the day and night rides

Any other pubs near AT that you would recommend? Visiting for my birthday in a couple weeks and want to have an actually decent birthday meal offsite after park close!

Just seen this that was posted yesterday on the MAP Facebook page:

How long it's valid for or if they are just advertising the standard (and perhaps new?) MAP food perks, I don't know.

If you want a really good meal (but not cheap) then look at the Duncombe Arms in Ellastone. Exit Towers main entrance & immediately double-back to your right onto Wootton Lane. Follow this (very narrow) road all the way round - it turns into Waste Lane (you are really in JCB family owned land here too). As you go towards the top of the hill there is a right turn - Westhouse Lane. Take it and follow on, go straight over at the crossroad junction. Now on Marlpit Lane, at the bottom of this, do a left then Duncombe Arms is on the right. They also have rooms - but as above, it is not cheap, but a culinary world away from Aramark!

Ate in RCR this evening - never ever again. Four of us two adults two two kids.

Kids burgers - don’t know what the hell was in them but looked like a piece of spam covered by some grey slime in a frozen bun ( the type that breaks really easily when it’s been defrosted )

Our burgers - both cold. Looked awful. Staff member wasn’t surprised and actually asked us if they were cold. He said they get a lot of complaints about the food now. Said everything is pre cooked a frozen as we know but interesting to hear a member of staff admitting to this. Anyway he got us two fresh meals which were actually hot.

Menu is dire. It’s just burgers or burgers or chips or burgers. Two chicken options with chips. No salads. Nothing healthy. What happened to the nice curry and naan bread or the steaks they used to do?

Kids didn’t finish their meals despite being starving. We left feedback on the way out with a member of the team who again agreed with us and said they are desperate to change supplier with the food being so bad and the number of complaints they are getting.

I wasn’t expecting much I will admit but having not eaten in there since last year I was truely appalled at the standard of the offerings. Won’t ever step foot in there again until things drastically improve.

Ate in the chicken place by Oblivion for lunch however and that wasn’t too bad.

Another growing review popped up on my feed.

The absolute state of that.

At this point. Alton Towers, more specifically Merlin, YOU DESERVE TO FAIL.

Meals like that, for £26, are absolutely shocking, ripping off hard-working families when times are already hard. It is borderline fraudulent and outright disgusting.
You do not deserve to be in business with the service you offer across the park, be it ride availability, value for money, or quality food.

Good riddance. I would say it would just be a shame for all the people in the company who do care. But Merlin needs to go, not just leave the park; they need to go under. That is what they deserve after years of ripping customers off at every single opportunity.

It’s not just Merlin though

Saw on instagram earlier - a ballon festival somewhere this weekend £45 ticket
Was meant to have monster trucks and other entertainment

Seems to ended up with just two balloons and no monster trucks and a few thrill amusement rides

Genuinely think we as a society allow being ripped off
