Future Flat Ride Speculation

Oblivion
I'm thinking X Sector on the site of Enterprise and Submission. The Wave Swinger on Enterprise and Dodgems on Submission šŸ¤”
That would possibly make sense, or the dodgems in the FV arcade. However, is there enough clearance for a wave swinger on the Enterprise site considering its proximity to Oblivionā€™s track? Maybe it could also go on Roller Discoā€™s site and be called Canopy Swinger or something to loosely tie it into the forest theme.

All speculation of course.

Iā€™d imagine it would have to be sat quite far out from where Enterpriseā€™s base was, but I donā€™t think that sort of ride would really fit into X-Sector thematically.

Dark forest is a better fit imo. Or have done with it and put in Wallaims and call it Twirlinng Toadstools Reborn: Gangsta Grannyā€™s Revenge šŸ˜‚

Enterprise fitted so well with that site and the theme of the area I really struggle to see them doing anything else but buying another....

I do sometimes wonder if that curve of track was designed with Enterprise in mind. Unlikely, of course, but it was a very good fit.

There must be other round flat rides of a similar enough size? But how many of them operate in a way that would move away from the track?

A Huss Breakdance would be bloody amazing. I think it could work in X Sector.

Only problem is - if Merlin do their usual of operating flats on the tame settings - then it'd be no fun.

They (Towers, at the time ran by Tussauds), largely operated Dynamo on bog-standard boring settings, but on quieter days, you could get one hell of a ride on it!

It's the one ride I'd love to see back at Towers.

I have done quite a few breakdances at theme parks and I don't think any of them have actually been good. When they don't have to compete for your money the priority is always keeping the maintenance fee down

One aspect to consider about flat rides in parks compared to the fair circuit is that parks have to consider throughput more than fairs. They canā€™t run obscenely long cycles, or else the throughput would be very poor.

We also need to consider that theme park rides operate a lot more than fair rides, which influences the way in which they can sustainably run. Fair rides only operate for a small number of days a year, whereas theme park rides operate far more, which means that to reduce wear on components, the cycles probably need to be a bit less unencumbered in permanent parks. I think the RetroSquad evidenced this quite well; those rides were quite unreliable when in Alton Towers, thus suggesting that they couldnā€™t put up with the strain of daily theme park operation very well.

Pre-batching helps as well. Soon as the ride stops, restraints release and open exit and entrance gates. Have the host and op walking round doing restraint checks.

saw this a few days ago in the general discussion, but there have been 2 rides added to queuetimes.com: https://queue-times.com/parks/1/queue_times in addition to Toxicator and 2 of the sky ride stations.
I have 2 questions with this:
1. could this be part of the rumoured 3 ride deal?
2. why is only 2 sky ride stations listed?

if you check the wayback machine (https://web.archive.org/web/20250116183529/https://queue-times.com/parks/1/queue_times) none of these 5 queue times were listed, in addition none of these rides are in any catagories (family or thrill) and are essentially their own thing in queuetimes.com

I mentioned this a week or so ago. I reckon one of them will be the towers street Skyride station. Perhaps the other one could be a mid season flat addition? Maybe itā€™s going to be less of a headline attraction than the park is making Toxicator out to be. Just a decent 1.2m supporting ride that doesnā€™t need much installation time.

well I am wondering why the forbidden valley and towers street has been named but not dark forest.

some of these types of systems (with a station in the middle) are able to turn off one side of a link and then using a switch track only operate using one half of the system, although I would doubt they would do this if the AT system is set up to be able to as the DF -> FV route is probably the most useful (TS has the garage, so is probably required)

thinking about it the 2 options could be FV -> DF and DF (the other FV is for FV->TS) as there are 2 queues at FV, but why haven't they specified it in the name of the queue times.

alternatively it could be 2 new rides (we can't see much of the park from the half term event) perhaps the dungeons has been re themed, new ride in DF, x sector

Or it could be part of them sorting out the additions, will be tidied up and there's nothing else to see?

A mid season launch of a thrill ride or 2 in x-sector would be a good bet. Possibly nothing worth shouting about or just that toxicator needs to take priority rather than distort the marketing. The area is good to go so wouldn't take much of a build. Maybe I'm just being too hopeful though and this is just a mistake or a queue feed for a ride that's been removed such as the blade.

Better yet maybe it's the queue times for guest services as they've been rather popular lately šŸ˜‚

I don't think they would, how the data base is set up the should be able to just change the name of the ride if these were temporary names.

I think this is quite likely (not specifically thrill rides, just flat rides and maybe if they have sorted the dungeons) as it makes sense to push for marketing one ride focussing on it.
