Galactica: General Discussion

The weird thing yesterday both stations lights were on and the lights in the other queue line remained on

Just a quick question (apologies if this has been answered before):

Does anybody know why Galactica starts riders in the seated position before flipping them backwards, instead of starting riders in the standing position, so that their legs would be outstretched during the ride (which would be more akin to Superman's flying position) ?

My guess would be since it was a prototype this omwas the first solution before developing rapidly into a better solution

And what was the change? All subsequent B&M Flyers have the configuration.

As does the next gen Vekoma flyer.

Instinctively, being in a flat laying position on a forceful coaster seems like it would be more uncomfortable. I’m sure people complain about the one at Flamingo as being one of the most painful rides out there.

It's still the Easter Holidays for many places in the country. Each Local Authority sets when their holidays are. Each Academy can choose when to set their own holidays too, independent from the LEA.
True, although the park goes back to a 4 p.m. close tomorrow, and so AT are treating today as the last day of the holidays (and, even then, today is a 5 p.m. close rather than 6 p.m. as it was for the last two weeks, I believe)

The idea that using a single train on Galactica during a busy period could be some sort of conscious decision is clearly absurd, however it is concerning that maintenance standards have seemingly slipped so far that only having one out of three trains available has suddenly become a common occurrence.

Until last year, if they were running 2 trains it generally gave them the option of swapping one of those out if it developed an issue, capacity would only have been affected on the rare occasions they were both staffed to run both stations AND lost a train.

The only slightly positive news is that the train missing this season (train 1) is not the same as the train missing last season (train 2) so it seems unlikely any of the trains have been deemed completely unsalvageable.

Merlin make some terrible choices, but they are actively trying to run the place into the ground, regardless of how it appears to us.

I wonder if it would have been better if one of the three trains had been completely destroyed beyond repair - only because it may have forced them to buy an entirely new train (which presumably would have become their default / preferred unit on days when only one train is in use) ?

Although, knowing Merlin, they may never have replaced it, and thus may have just stuck with two trains instead of three.

(I've heard that the trains on Nemesis Reborn are actually the original trains from the original Nemesis ride, and so the trains presumably last longer than the track?)
