Gardaland

I honestly love that I get to revive this Gardaland topic that was 4 pages deep on the UK & European Theme Parks & Attractions sub-forum just to show a cute Prezzemolo @ the 80th Venice Film Festival montage.

Basically, Gardaland reps at VIFF ran a presentation advertising Gardaland as a potential filming location. Giancarlo Giannini (He's a big deal in Italy, you may recognise him as French agent Mathis in '06 Casino Royale and he's also Al Pacino's official Italian dubber) is one such rep who says actors should visit Gardaland to 'teach them what joy in life is' and considers it 'a fascinating place that triggers emotions'.

If you'd like to ensure you're NOT having a fever dream from the heat, here are two links:

Not sure if I have missed an update about potential additions to Gardaland in 2024 but John Burton posted this to his Instagram stories today. Is that the location of the old Magic Loop coaster?

Gardaland has ramped up advertising for their new-for-2024 attraction, which is replacing Sequoia Magic Loop, with a cryptic teaser video showing a purple stone with numerous hieroglyphics on it:

The park has revealed that the ride will open in June 2024, have a theoretical throughput of 350pph and have a minimum height requirement of 1.2m.

The stone shown in the video has 22 different symbols and contains "a message to be deciphered". The ride will apparently be "rich in special effects" and have "a highly spectacular impact".

In my view, the info we have would provide strong evidence in favour of the rumours of an Italian sibling to Croc Drop... the stats would line up, and even the hieroglyphics give off strong Croc Drop VIBES, in my view.

From what I understand, Sequoia Magic Loop did not have a good throughput, but oh dear.

On the plus side, Gardaland does already have an existing roster of (seemingly) high throughput headline attractions, including an existing drop tower. So if this is a Croc Drop-style SBF Visa drop tower as rumoured, it should play a more peripheral role within the park, so the throughput demand won't be quite as high.

Which is itself next to an existing Dive Coaster. o_O

It's a weird park, Gardaland. It's sensational location means it makes bank for Merlin no matter what, and is a pleasant place to spend a day and an evening, but some of their recent investments have been iffy. I still maintain that the Jumanji ride is largely toss. They need a new coaster soon, surely.
