Still thinking I might apply for a ride op job when applications open.
Just looked at their website and you're right, no sign of a wooden coaster. Got to be honest, and I know that I am far from the target audience, but from the little I have seen this looks pretty awful. Not a patch on say Gulliver's Kingdom in Matlock Bath.
This is a very good point and I think that is something I and I'm sure others will have overlooked. However, although I understand these things take time to develop, I can't see many people visiting this park because of this. If you've got the choice of visiting a park with 75% more things to do than this one for the same price, which are you going to do?I just uploaded the Gulliver's World map from 1989, serves as a reminder of how these things grow, if you have visited recently.
It does raise the question as to how small a new park can be on opening, when they will inevitably be compared to something older or more mature. It's true of the newer Disney Parks (particularly Studios Paris, Hong Kong and DCA in its early years) - they don't offer all that Magic Kingdom or Disneyland offer, but those parks had a decades long head start.
Same with Merlin and the new Legoland parks.
I agree, that is the dilemma. They're not spending insignificant sums on this, it shows how difficult it is to match 30 years of cumulative investments in a single shot - can be done, but not easily and is rare. This is a very good point and I think that is something I and I'm sure others will have overlooked.
