Hyde Park Winter Wonderland 2019

In all truth, I can only really see myself doing 3 of the 5 coasters (Olympia Looping, Wilde Maus XXL and Euro Coaster). The Santa's Sleigh ride is a definite no-no as I was massively put off doing kiddie coasters after riding Octonauts in June, and my parents did not sound best pleased at the prospect of riding our 4th Reverchon spinning mouse, so I think Ice Mountain might be one we'll miss as well. However, I'd like to do Olympia, Wilde Maus XXL and Euro Coaster because they are unique to some degree, and I'd also like to try Hangover and the Giant Wheel! For all I know, there may be other things I'd like to try too!

Thanks for the advice, everyone; can't wait for the trip!

For clarity, the 5 main coasters last year (Spinning Coaster, Euro Coaster, Ice Mountain, Maus XXL and Looping) cost £33 in total. As far as I know, the prices for these have not gone up this year.

Wilde Maus XXL is one of few rides I’ve ever feared for my life on, along with Inversion XXL (Huh. Maybe it’s a name thing...). As Astro says there’s practically no trimming whatsoever. It’s proof that wild mouse hairpins can be thrilling... Provided you slam into them constantly at high speed!

Olympia is certain worth a ride for the novelty if you never have. However, having ridden it out in Düsseldorf, on its own it’s not something I’d rush down to London for. For me Alpina Bahn is a better coaster.

Disappointing that Circus Circus hasn’t appeared this year. I’ve not ridden it but I have done another Huss Magic (Spinning Vibe at Walibi Holland), and based on that I think it’s frankly criminal there aren’t more of them in the world! An incredibly fun experience.

Does anyone know if Airwolf is present this year?

You do realise that there's a Huss Magic in the UK, at Fantasy Island? ;)

Yes but why would anyone wish to visit Fantasy Island?

I feel the same about most UK theme/amusement parks these days. Over last few years I have done several parks in Europe I'd never been to before plus Cedar Point in 2018. It's totally ruined UK parks for me tbh. They just don't compare.

Popped in today for a little while about 5ish while I was passing through London. Had a front row ride on OL and a ride on the KMG XXL. Noticed that OL was only running 2 trains despite the place being fairly busy. Probably could have used a third train.

But at £17 for two rides I have to admit that it isn't great value.

It was running 3 trains when we got there about 6 ish.

I experianced OL running only 2 trains with a completly packed station at the start of the Winter Wonderland season. Would have hoped they would make three trains the standard. They did go up to three later in the evening (took one off and put two on) but that still had a queue down to the pay boxes, further than I have ever seen it go in the past.

Is there anything in London that is good value taking away free stuff of course? The whole place is one great big rip off.

It's not great value if you compare the price of those rides vs others at a park like Alton, but you're paying an event premium that's pretty much in line with other things of that ilk.

It's like being at a music festival and paying £6 for a pint of warm Tuborg in a cardboard cup vs paying £3 for a cool beer in a tankard in your local.
