Well for one thing, they're not using the correct trains. The ride was designed to run with 5 car trains but is now running a train from Mindbender with only 3 cars. The shorter trains will engage with fewer drive wheels on the lift which might make slipping more likely.

Tyre driven lifts aren't generally failsafe. Thirteen's wet weather closures in recent years are widely considered to be due to trains slipping on the lift, despite having the drive wheels much closer together and using significantly lighter trains than Triple Loop

Is it actually new trains or are they just chopping the OTSRs off the existing ones?

From what I gather, that wasn’t the source of a lot of the issues the ride was facing…
