Another photo that Kings Island have just posted to Facebook:

I'd forgotten that this was having a second loop!

:)

Re: Kings Island - Son Of Beast and B&M replacement

I really wish this was a lot closer to home!

Work on the station is progressing:

Looks a fairly cheap affair to be honest. But who cares when you've got a such a massive coaster!

:)

I think this will be one off a select few rides where theming doesn't matter

Cedar Fair ALWAYS do cheap theming affairs... Indeed, it's something the majority of American parks do...

Though having it look like a church would actually be better than the usual steel shed...

Sorry to double post! Kings Island have just posted this beautiful photo on Facebook:

I apologies for what is once again a triple post! The vehicles for the first train have been delivered. Here is a photo from Kings Island's Facebook page:

It's weird not seeing the normal trains!

:)

Yeah, I don't like them.

Not bad, but they don't look anywhere near as comfortable as standard invert trains. Rides that don't need a 'vest' shouldn't have one - it's cloying and uncomfortable for no reason.

The trains do sort of need the vests though. You would fall onto your shoulders and have all of your weight on them during the inline twist if the standard B&M OTSRs were used. It's the reason the Jojo roll on Hydra is almost universally hated.

I personally don't mind vests that much. I find the restraints on Air and The Swarm to be comfortable enough and it removes any chance of headbanging.

Agreed CGM, I find air (or any flyer) & Swarms restraints very comfortable. They offer much freer arm movement, and again as above, these 'new-for-an-invert' restraints are needed for the layout, standard OTSR's would be painful during the hang-time.

Indeed, vests are required for this layout, it would have been rather uncomfortable with the standard restraints. I have no problems as long as they don't tighten like on The Swarm, for me that could completely ruin the ride. I've had a few painful rides on The Swarm due to the vest tightening and digging into my shoulders.

EDIT:

Apparently Kings Island have confirmed that the harnesses won't be locking which will therefore stop them tightening. I'm not entirely sure what that means though, just something I read on TPR!

:)

Slightly better angle.

"The first vehicle of a Banshee train was placed on the track this afternoon. The rest of the vehicles for the train will be transported to the ride and placed on the track tomorrow."

The old Arrow trains are being transformed into Bat-themed trains:

Shame it looks like just a repaint and not new shells made to look like the original trains. :(

Theme Park Review have posted this photo of Banshee testing to their Facebook page:

A better testing video can be seen here. Hopefully it won't be too long before we get a full testing video.

Looks like our famous Blue ice cream is going to have some serious competition from the new Banshee Twist flavored ice cream for the title of Most Popular Treat in the park this year.

Banshee ice cream! :p
