Legoland Windsor

New cars for the Driving School. They look the same as before (something I'm personally happy about) but unlike the old ones don't look like they've been through a demolition derby... Which you could say they had.

This makes me wonder why adults can't drive them in the parks... Big kids :p

Because the queue would be at least 3 hours long :p (and that's no joke)

As it happens I've had the chance to drive one of these cars as an adult and they are still comfortable. Although if you have long legs like me you'll have to sacrifice use of the break in order to access the accelerator ;)

A couple of pictures of the park today from Theme Park Guide

Urgh, that fence. Never got Merlin's obsession of whacking un-themed wooden fences everywhere. Distracts from all the lovely models behind them.

I agree with the fences, it does my head in. Metal queue line rails would work fine or even the plastic coloured fences they use in Alton Towers Waterpark. Would suit Lego much better.

At least the pirate show area looks much better than it did last season when it was covered in rust and old paint work.

Any photos of the new area at Legoland or any new rides?

I don't condone the need for new fences, just Merlins insistence to use the same bland wooden fences that stick out, block the theme they are meant to be enhancing and age terribly. Replacing the old fences like for like would have cost less and looked better. A green painted fence would be even better than that.

As for the other changes The lighthouse looks simple but at least it's clean, with new lighting by the looks of the orbs (and not pink as was rumoured). Traffic New Lego City looks alright from the little we've seen but I hope it's not finished as it looks very plain yet not simplistic like the old design was. Not to mention the lack of important signage.

Judging from those photos on Theme Park Guide all the new 'models' are not actually made of Lego. A little part of me died when I saw them.
Another part of the park's soul ripped out.

They're the Minifigures or Minifigs as some like to call them, they're still Lego, Sortof...

Judging from those photos posted above, the giant "lifesize" LEGO is based not on genuine LEGO bricks, but Megab**cks, or some other clone brand.

Where is Stuart Ashen and his blowtorch when you need them?

At least I grew up visiting LegoLand when it was good and didn't have Queue bots! How I miss those days

Yes, I realise that they're larger versions of on the minifigs but part of what made Legoland so special was the fact it reeked of craftsmanship and skill. As a brand that heavily emphasises imagination, rethemeing an area by ripping out the Lego models in favour of fibreglass replicas and painting large chunks of it grey, feels a lot like a kick in the teeth.

The 'big' news here is that LLW seem to have somehow sneaked what appears to be a Zamperla Disc'o past the planners. Presumably it'll be the medium model similar to Blackpool's Avatar Airbender.
