    Possible longest thread ever lol,

Agree with you Dave, Merlin do indeed need more competition, however it think if this does start to get a move on we might see Merlin sell up?

I think we'll see Merlin sell up at least part of their business sooner or later regardless.

Exciting news that a possible large stumbling block for the project has been eliminated. I'm also interested to see that they almost have all the land they need and that an announcement on the project will be made in the new year.

I really, really hope the positive news continues to drop through.

Hmm things are looking quite positive regarding the park, but I'm not going to get too excited until any construction starts. I really hope it does happen, and I have a feeling that it will. I just think it's going to be slow going.

I don't care how many reputable people claim to have insider knowledge about this project, I still say it'll never happen.

Gotta agree - the UK struggles with small parks, I find the idea of a large one actually opening over here to be too good to be true.

Well I for one am very excited about this project. For once the local people are on board over a project which is a huge bonus. It will see large numbers of jobs brought to the area and regenerate the entire region.

The signs are all there that this will also get planning approval which is another huge obstacle, especially with the government ruling out the Option B new crossing which would have gone through the middle of the park.

Now of course, its the funding which needs to be in place, but I have every faith that this will be achieved.

Yes, we have had big parks planned before and nothing came to fruition, but I just have a feeling about this. If I am wrong, I am wrong, but hopefully I am right.

If anything, I am actually more excited about the other parks in the UK who would HAVE to up their game if this park went ahead. I dont really think a set of Dodgems and a few plastic figures tarting up old rides would cut it anymore.

Bring it on is what I say !! ;D

Following the recent Garden City announcement in Ebbsfleet, the Paramount developers had this to say:

Not a huge update, but I think this could have a beneficial impact on the proposal if more money is being invested in this area. Still early days, but at least it's something :)

i used to get really excited for this sort of project....until a massive devlopment in my home town for a 200ft indoor ski slope and the worlds largest indoor climbing wall was promised and then fell through....even after planning permission was granted!

I half expected you to start going all NIMBY on us before I finished reading that. ;) But yeah I guess with these sort of projects its a 50/50 chance of the thing actually happening. There's hope though! :p

The sad thing is, just like this project, the one in my town was actually backed by all the locals which made it even more frustrating. i really hope they pull this off though as it'll be fantastic to have somewhere new and competitive to go!

I've got family that live in bassildon/pitsea area. That would be pretty good for me, if thus does happen. I could imagine a roller coaster, based on the film Italian job, and a tomb raider style ride.
Hope the park concentrates on more english bassed films, than American.

All looking good...thank god they're going to Disney rather than a Merlin park to gauge a comparison. ;)

Had to laugh at this though:

    I can imagine! :p
