I'm another of those that, when it comes to Nemesis, just doesn't really 'get it' in terms of the enthusiast hype for the ride. It's good, I'll give it that, but even by Alton Towers standards I don't view it as being particularly exceptional. There are positive aspects to it, and there are negative aspects, just as with every other ride at the park.
Obviously, I utterly adore the way that it's landscaped; the blood river, the pit, the 'viewing areas' inside and outside the queue line which mean that the ride interacts so well with its surroundings, and builds up an atmosphere. Aesthetically, it's sound. The music, equally, is a masterpiece and one of the best used throughout the park... I adore watching the ride, being near the ride, more than any other coaster (possible exception - Oblivion).
But in terms of the actual ride experience I find it hard to enjoy. It's too jolty and too rough, heck, possibly even too intense for me to even truly enjoy a ride on it. My interest in theme parks is such that I'll take a good experience ride over something which gives me a pounding headache every single time. The likes of Hex (experience), Air ('fun' rollercoaster) and Congo River Rapids (group ride) are what made me an enthusiast, as opposed to intensity such as Nemesis.
So... yeah. I
do love Nemesis, honestly. But for me it's more about the atmosphere than the ride itself, which I'm indifferent to at best.
